If Rangers are relegated to the 3rd division and the 12 month transfer ban which only allows them to register under 18 players is upheld can they still win promotion? |

Is that likely to happen? _________________ I am not gas, I am a Pirate.

Well depends who you ask.
Rangers are in serious financial peril and as such it's unlikely they will survive in their current form.
If they are liquidated then there is a chance they will be re-introduced into the SPL as a 'newco' which could kill the integrity of scottish football of course every scottish football fan is against this.
The other option is the have to re-apply for the SFL which would result in them being introduced as a 'newco' in the 3rd division.
Either way they will not be allowed to register players aged over 18. |

They will be able to register existing players, and I think loan signings.
They will pull together a squad good enough to get successive promotions back to the SPL. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

After watching the old firm game yesterday, I have to say some of the banners on display were way over the top. I am not and never will be a Rangers supporter but I dont think the Players or fans deserved what was dished out to them yesterday, Can the under 18s win the league - NO. HAPPINESS IS BEING A JAMBO. |

Dundee were not allowed to sign loan players and we didn't have 11 full time professional at one point.
If they are liquidated technically their current players wouldn't be their players but let's say the could play them how many of them would stay to play in the 3rd division for a faction of the wages?
Most likely it would be a very young team but yes would still be favorites for promotion back to the SPL. |

Can the Scottish League do with the loss in revenue that having Rangers outside the Scottish Premier League would result in?
Certainly the rest of the current Premier League teams rely on the revenue generated by Celtic and Rangers travelling support, so, for that reason alone are the other clubs going to vote them out?
I don't think the Scottish game would benefit from Rangers dropping to the bottom of the pyramid. The media interest in their fall from grace has made the world more aware of the Scottish game but that will soon subside.
And are there any Celtic fans (true fans that is) who would like to go without the cut and thrust of the 'Old Firm' Derby for three season's? The current four league games between the two teams probably accounts for around 50% of each clubs turnover.
Unfortunately here it is more a case of the finances dictating. Clashes between Celtic and Rangers bring a lot of money into the Scottish game and in the current climate no one is going to turn that away.
Having said all this, I would advocate Rangers dropping to the bottom tier and fighting there way back if only to teach them a lesson and to prove to the other teams that you can not turn your back on your responcibilities. Unfortunately I can't see it happening.

Absolutely, in fact there's an argument to be made that the financial issues in the SPL are a direct result of the OF dominance of quarter of a century. It's tedious, fans are deserting in their droves.

That may have been true 20 years ago before small all-seated stadia, not any longer. Evidence suggests that home fans are put-off attending when the OF come visiting. Just look at the League Cup, in the semi-final Killie had 15,000 at Hampden v Ayr United, in the Final v Celtic they only sold 9,000 tickets.

I couldn't care less what interest the world took in the Scottish game, I want our game to be more competitive and a fairer and more equal distribition in revenue. If that comes about by Rangers having to take a large dose of medicine then so be it.

It is also killing the game, the OF want 4 league derbies a season, but interest is at an all time low, fans of other clubs want a 16 or 18 team SPL playing each other only twice.

Indeed, and I say that as a Hearts fan as it may happen to us one day. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |
