Post subject: Feedback on Ebay......

I bought two items off devil991 a couple of months ago on ebay. He never left feedback so, after a couple of weeks, I sent a kindly reminder which he never responded to. I was somewhat upset as I consider feedback important but considered that the end of the matter as what else can you do?
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago another item turned up from this seller and I bought it. It duly arrived and I decided to leave a fair neutral comment considering previous experience and the fact that this was now three purchases without feedback.
He resonded with an email calling me an idiot, telling me I was blocked and so on.
This really got my goat up and I responded with, admittedly, a very nasty email containing every expletive under the sun.
The thing is, this seller has now somehow managed to get my feedback comment removed from ebay even though it was a fair comment in my opinion.
I'd like to know how ebay can do this. It probably has something to do with the fact that this seller has some 12000 feedbacks and is considered a more valued customer than my measily 1000.
I admit I am somewhat obsessive about feedback though feel I should have at least had a response about it considering I did contact him directly. Some people obviously list more items than they can reasonably manage at any one time.

I had four negatives in the past off one idiot buyer who ordered the wrong items.
He returned the items and I repaid him in full, he ruined my Top seller feedback and i lost my Ebay discounts.
So when posting negative or neutral feedbacks expect to be put on the Buyers Blockers List.

Ever since computers, it seems people have been unable to communicate even though they have 100 more ways to do it.

You were wrong for the negative feedback

He was wrong for the nasty email

Although I can see his point not yours sorry.

Now kiss and make up Smile Some advice from a really old guy follows ignore it if you wish;

When dealing with people always try to be polite and act in a positive way not a negative way. Think "will this produce what I really want(A) or will this annoy the fug out of the person (B)"

A = positive B = Negative

Bit of a coincidence this one as I have just had an eBay message from a seller asking for me to leave them feedback for an item received a couple of weeks ago so that they can then leave me feedback themselves.

What a f*ckin' cheek!! Mad

If I have bought an item and paid immediately I should have received feedback from them first thanking me for my quick payment, I can then reciprocate with feedback on receipt of the item.

When selling I leave feedback the moment payment is received, why shouldn't I when the buyer has completed their side of the deal?

Put it this way, if someone left me neutral feedback based purely on me not leaving feedback from a previous purchse, I'd also be complaing to ebay particularly if I received a nasty email.

You're abusing the feedback system and someone not leaving feedback is their own choice.

someone not leaving feedback is their own choice.[/quote]

That is the crux of it - it is entirely voluntary and some people don't see the need for it, others feel they don't have the time............

I leave feedback for sales (as soon as payment is made) and for purchases as soon as items are received - but then I have the time and I don't seel very much.

As a seller I always leave feedback as soon as payment is made (if nothing else then at least the buyer knows I have received payment and am processing the order).

However it is also very welcome if the buyer leaves feedback upon receipt of the goods - so that the seller knows the goods have arrived.

Ebay state that you cant leave feedback comments which are Positive and Neutral/negative in the same feedback, so if you praise the seller and also say communication was bad and leave neutral then they can remove it, but as people have said, feedback is a option. Feedback takes a few seconds and i allways leave it straight away when i sell, there is actually a very active member on this forum thats sells Quite alot of items that never leaves feedback which i find very strange...

My view is that feedback is a simple way of saying "thank you" whether u have sold or have purchased and both parties are satisfied.
Those as sellers who refuse to have the basic manners i have no time for and if i do not get a feedback after i paid immediately then i will write and ask why and i have found shaming them has gotten the correct response. Nowadays sellers cannot leave negative feeback for buyers but years ago they could and if a seller treated you badly and did not operate in the right spirit they could leave neg feedback in retribution for getting both barells from the seller. Thumbs Up

I think sellers should be able to leave negative feeback.

Why on earth did they take that ability away?

Im not sure how many years ebay have allowed feedback to be removed if it is undeserved, maybe they allways have? But when the sellers could leave negative i was allways worried in leaving any negative or neutral feedback just incase i recieved a negative back in retaliation! Homer

Perhaps because as i said before if a seller upset a buyer for whatever reasons the buyer had the right to leave neg feedback and when they did and if it was justifiable the seller could still respond with some vitriolic expletives even though they may be in the wrong, and ebay decided that the onus is on the seller after adveritsing their waresthat they have to ensure the deal is smooth and that the buyer gets exactly what was advertised. Having said this you make a fair point as if a buyer fails to pay the seller, the seller is unable to react. I am unaware if ebay has ever given any explanations.

I think ebay is wonderful and the only issues i have with them[as i buy and do not sell so have no issues with fees and such like]
are the private listing which are total bollocks and anyone can list something and shill bid their item up to the hilt and no one can say a word and the other big issue is being able to spot shill bidding and nothing happens after reporting it in many cases. I was shill bidded some months ago by a forum member-they got someone to run the item up into 3 figures then ran away in case they had gone too far, genuine bids then took over and the item sold for a substantial amount to me at the end BUT the item was a rarity even for me and i valued it at a much higher price than i paid by a further few hundred quid and was delighted to pay what i did-arsewipes such as this that pull these strokes think they are smart arses-nah just arses, i know who got the better deal they will have blown the cash but i have an item that most folks do not and another one ticked off the list!. Thumbs Up

One other point i would like to say is that a forum member recently got lambasted on here for shill bidding his name is Chris from Warrington-vintage football collectibles i think he is known on the forum, i have dealt with Chris on a number of occassions and had no issues at all and would think that he was quite correct in trying to clear his name-got a supporter in me.

Totally agree with this. Computers seem to have caused the equivalent of road rage with some (me included at times!).

I never understand why sellers are allowed to wait for buyer feedback before leaving theirs. If, as the buyer you have paid, then you have completed your side of the transaction and deserve appropriate feedback. If you're not going to leave it at all I guess thats up to you, but if you are going to leave feedback, do it as soon as you receive payment.
