I'd appreciate any help with this latest goose chase.

I'd like to track down the issues within the 75 issue part work for the Book Of Football which featured York City, especially the one which had the club featured as an article.

If anyone has all 75 issues (or simply the index which might be easier) then please could you have a quick look and tell me the issues in which the mighty minstermen were featured. I've got a picture of the 'Club" page in my minds eye, as I'm sure I had it once upon a time.

thanks for any help
Paul

Hi Minsterman.

I do have all 75 issues somewhere. If you would like a scan of the York page just drop me your e-mail address and I will do my best to find it out and send over.

Many Thanks to everyone for their swift response - really appreciated.

PM sent to GreatBarrWolf re the scan.

Please could someone kindly have a look at the index to see if there was any other considerable coverage of York in any other issues? I'm now know that I'm on the look out for issue 73 at least!

Thanks again

There are two references to York City in the Index.
The first is to pages 928-933 which is the main article. Sorry, I don't know about Issue numbers.
The other is to page 1744 which is the last page before the Index. It's rather brief, and it is mainly about Reading Laughing
York City are mentioned in the first sentence.

Reading equalled the League record of 11 successive clean sheets, shared by York City (1973-74) and Millwall (1925-26) as they walked off with the Fourth Division tile last season. They hoped to secure a place in the history books by preventing Brentford from scoring on the first day f the 1979-80 season, but an own goal by Stweart Henderson put an end to Steve Death's unbeaten run.

According to the index in my copy York are mention on pages:

1441 - part 73 - Club history
564 - part 29 - reference to Joe Hulme playing for York
766 - part 39 - Page on Ted Macdougall - reference to signing for York

I hope this helps.

I bought my three bound volumes in a charity shop, perhaps mine has some bits missing.
I think that I may have a different version?

Martino - thanks for the info sounds like I only need issue 73

Badhand - I think you must have something called 'Football Handbook' which was published in the late 70s early 80s and are small programme-sized. I'm referring to Book of Football which was published in the early 70s and was A4. Thanks for trying to help though.

Just to advise that I managed to get all of volume 5 on a BIN on ebay last night including issue 73.The key to this were fellow members telling me that I needed that issue in the first place so thanks to everyone.

Look out for some more exciting posts from me in due course as I aim to track down when York City club file appeared in Striker etc....!!

thanks again - much appreciated
