I bought at auction around 6 months ago Halifax v Carlisle 45/6 for £60,i also have Halifax v Carlisle 35/36.

Re the reserve homes, I have copies of Bradford City and BPA reserves form early 50s, I have even seen a 46/7 BPA home reserve issue, but never a Halifax one.

I see New Brighton v Halifax 50/51 is on Sports this time.

Whats a Halifax v Rochdale or v Oldham or v Lincoln go for?

Against Rochdale, Oldham & Lincoln for matches at the Shay a few example from 1940's are as follows:

Halifax v Rochdale 1944/45 - £75.50
Halifax v Rochdale 1946/47 - £65.00
Halifax v Rochdale 1947/48 - £55.00
Halifax v Rochdale 1948/49 - £70.00 League 13/11/48
Halifax v Rochdale 1948/49 - £55.00 Friendly 8/1/49
Halifax v Rochdale 1949/50 - £45.00
Halifax v Lincoln 1945/46 - £100.00 L3NE 3/11/45
Halifax v Lincoln 1945/46 - £100.00 War Cup 26/1/46
Halifax v Lincoln 1945/46 - £74.50 L/Sec 30/3/46
Halifax v Lincoln 1946/47 - £80.00 7/6/47 Rearranged
Halifax v Lincoln 1947/48 - £57.00
Halifax v Oldham 1945/46 - £68.00
Halifax v Oldham 1946/47 - £88.00

A seller on ebay listed a Halifax Res last year from 50/51 it was a single sheet but i don't know who it was against it was snapped up pretty quick at £100 buy it now, it was possibly against Ossett the seller was from Barnsley,

Halifax v Carlisle 45/46 i paid something close to £55.00 for from DG Taylors catalogue,

Halifax v Carlisle is worth somewhere between £275-£325 for some reason the 35/36 season is much rarer than most other seasons from the 1930's apart from 1930/31 & 1931/32,

& yes i saw the New Brighton in the catalalogue min offer £140 but i already have that one looking for the match at the Shay from that season but never seen it, would offer £200 if anyone out there has it!!

I was interested to read the posting of the above match showing the programme went for £350. I have a programme for the match played on 25 Sept 1948 but it was not actually Halifax v Wolves but Halifax & District Football Association Jubilee Celebration Match (1898 - 1948) Halifax & District FA X1 v Wolverhampton X1 and, as per the prog.notes "The Borough of Wolverhampton is also celebrating 100 years' incorporation and who could better represent these two teams than two specially chosen teams of Amateur players." Eight page Halifax programme, price 2d - if it is the same prog. as mentioned I would have let it go for £250!

I was the one who bought it, it was one of the last one's i needed to complete the set for that season, the seller knew that and priced it accordingly, had he started it at £4.99 i some how don't think it would of reached £350!! if only i had known there was one available at £250 elsewhere....

heres the link...

Halifax, like a good number of provincial clubs, command greater prices for certain programmes than the likes of United. How many Halifax 45-6 and 46-7 homes do you ever see, on ebay or dealers lists? Virtually none. You often see United issues, and yes they do command premium prices, but not what they did 3 or 4 years ago. Some collectors of United programmes, and those of whom they played have the benefit of maybe waiting for a cheaper programme if the current one is going too high. You don't have that with Halifax, Hartlepool, Rochdale, etc - hence you are far more likely to get higher prices with a number of people chasing the same, very rare, programme.
I wouldn't have thought that the reserve programmes are worth anything like the price they're being offered for, but I don't have a collective collector base in Halifax which this guy does. If he's seen a huge rise being paid for Halifax reserves aways in the recent past from his collector base then if he can get those kind of prices, best of luck to him.
He normally has his rarer items for sale at really low starting prices, witht he wording, "no minimum set as I know these programmes are rare and will find their true price" or something similar. He's probably hit on something of a winner here - maybe not at £125, but there has to be a market for them in the first place, otherwise, why risk high insertion prices when he doesn't normally do so?
Lastly, if folk don't agree with the prices, DON'T BUY THEM! Don't get upset.....

Just got hold of a Halifax v Man City cup game, shall have to look it up, unless somebody has it and will let me know.

Hi,what is it dated? are you after a valuation? The only cup matches Halifax have played against City are 1923/24 FAC2 (A)- went to 2 replays, then there was the FLN2 War Cup 1943/44 (H&A) & 1944/45 (H&A) and last but by no means least 79/80 FAC 3 at the Shay - A 1-0 shock win for Town,

Hello,
It is a fairly common programme and not difficult to get, dealers would charge £2-£3 for it, i have seen it on ebay at £1.00 many a time and fails to sell, there was a poster insert included at the match and many are sold without, this would lower the value further to anybody looking to buy that knows about the insert, the dealer in Halifax will probably have about 25 in stock so this would mean that the programme will probably never be in demand, or at least not for another 30+ years, any Halifax programmes pre-1964 are the one's to get, these are becoming increasing difficult to obtain, especially the home programmes,
