Gutted.

We’ve lost two gentlemen and leading lights in our hobby in the space of a month. The news just sums up the year, truly awful.

RIP

Terrible news. Like most on here, only knew him from the forum.l remember him talking about the voluntary work he did, helping people suffering with Alzheimer’s by showing them old football programmes and photos and reminiscing about football in the past . The fund raising work he did for his local club as well. Without ever meeting him, you could just tell he was a good and lovely man.

How sad. RIP.
I knew John from way back, when I met him at fairs down in Lincolnshire - he came from that neck of the woods originally and was an adopted Auchinleckian. A great feller, as all here are saying. Always a pleasure to deal with and incredibly knowledgeable. Like many here, I started to look out for the 'Bot and how they were doing, through John's devotion to the cause.

Condolences to his family

Never met or even interacted on here with him but was always aware he was held in great affection. One of our own, a great loss.

I am very sad to hear this news, I never met John, but the passion he had for collecting was incredibly evident on this forum, and his passing is a sad loss not only for his family and friends, but for the wider collecting community.
