Just come across this on ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOOT.....3a9576aa19

Can anyone confirm that has this badge whether the attached pin on theirs is made of a different metal as in this picture?

Regards Scott

Why can't people take photos that aren't blurred? Confused

This does look like a replacement pin rather than the original.

I have seen a number of FA steward badges and the metal of the badge and pin has always been the same.

I stand to be corrected though. Smile

Thanks bisphamseasider, I've asked the seller and as they're not into badges they can't answer my query. Would appear strange though if both were made of different metals.

All badges HAVE to be made of different metals, the pins are always steel whereas the main body will be an entirely different form of metal. Bispham is probably correct in that the pin is not the original as there looks to have been some dark coloured solder on either side of the pin and when they were produced that solder would be coloured the same as the badge itself to blend in with the the badge colour-well that is my view having handled 1000's over the years but there are enough more knowledgable badge experts on here to advise for sure.

here is an example of a similar item front and rear-if the rear image is hazy it is because it has been scanned and the pin is in the way but you can clearly see the solder is coloured to match the metal of the the badge.

Of course Leslie is no doubt correct about the different metals.

I meant to say that of those I have seen, the metal of the badge and the pin have always appeared to look the same, which probably indicates the pin on the 1928 badge is a newer addition.

This is a scan of the reverse of a 1953 badge.
