I'm looking for information about a player who played for Rovers during the 1891/92 season - I know the name of the player but was wondering if there is a website that will provide a bit more information/background on the players career?

Thanks in advance for any help and/or tips.

Thumbs Up

The English National Football Archive

www.enfa.co.uk

provides detailed information on all players who have played first team soccer down to individual matches.

Unfortunately, it is a subscription service. I do not subscribe at present but another forum member may be a member and be willing to do a search for you.

If you let me know his name I will check details in the book 'Football League Players' Records 1888-1939'.

Thanks for all the replies. The player in question is Martin McKeown signed from Glasgow Celtic at the start of the 1891/92 season and and sold to (Greenock) Morton either later that season or before the start of the 1892/93 season.

Thumbs Up

Additionally, the book 'Football League Players' Records 1888-1939' shows that he was capped twice by Scotland and was on the books of a number of Scottish sides both before and after his appearances for Blackburn.

There are no specific details of any appearances except for Blackburn which is shown here as 19 appearances rather than 21.

I expect blackburncollector has the correct figure though.

Thanks for that...the 2 extra appearances are as a result of 2 FA Cup appearances that season.
