Went in the room at warren & Wignall ...and am presuming to a collector not a dealer at the price.

Am just hoping he already has 48/9 v Plymouth and shoves the duplicate on ebay Smile

Anyone know who grabbed it?

Rovers programmes are hard to find for that era, there was approx 15 per season from 46/47 to 49/50...

If someone wants something and has the money....

Very rare in my experience - the catalogue description did not really make clear what was in the lot but clearly at least a couple of people were pretty keen..

I was ready to bid a silly amount given I only wanted one programme and would then hopefully get my money back on the rest...there was a full listing ( amusingly spelt at time) which appeared on the saleroom site

Oh well one more person who won't bid against me next time it come sup...

The auctioneer sounded pretty surprised

bon chance to whoever got them...hours of fun...shall watch ebay for a plethora of listings though!

Peter

It must be a collector with VERY deep pockets - saying that, I got a list of the programmes included and there were a lot. Opening bid was £2k and just kept going. Hope they didn't buy to sell on as they'd struggle...

i don't think they will struggle at all to get out of those

Some of those Blackburn 1946/47 and 1947/48's are rocking and are on the end of a lot of serious collectors wants lists

It was a unique opportunity,i suspect, for a serious Blackburn collector to once and for all fill his gaps that he never thought he would and he can now have a lot some fun getting rid of the ones he doesn't need

They all looked in very good condition as well if scans can be believed

If the buyer of them wants to talk to me about the Blackburn v Manchester United programmes then please send me a pm

At last someone who understands the value of programmes, yes a nice profit could be had IF they were to be sold.

OK time to come clean - it was me who bought the Rovers programmes. Only just managed to stop shaking. As to whether they were worth it, I managed to clear 50 off my post war list leaving about 30 to go. This leaves me with a load of spares some pretty rare ones included unfortunately not 48-49 Plymouth which is one of the last programmes that serious collectors need.

There were also some programmes not listed in the collection including the League Cup single sheet home programmes v Rochdale, Wrexham etc

If anyone needs any particular Blackburn programmes I will check if they are among the spares.

Cheers

Bernie

I think that if you had not made the purchase,it is possible that you would have went through your life never having obtained at least two or three of the 50 or so you got that you never had,so I think you made a good choice, you will make a good few bob on the others, judging by what the people in the know are saying here.
