I am still fairly new to programme collecting and have what maybe a stupid question.

When there is a preseason friendly single programme covering multiple friendlies, do other collectors collect one for each game or just buy one to cover all the games, completist wise.

I know it is each to their own but am interested

You are not alone in having to make such decisions! I really depends on what categories you collect in. For me as a collector of first and last league teams, I have a few instances where a game is a first or last for both teams such as Boston v Torquay 28/4/07. Barnet's last ever home game at Underhill v Wycombe on 20/4/13 was also was also their last home in the League. In these instances I have two, one for each team or category. For a multiple friendly unless you are collecting the aways of all the teams played I would not think you would need more than one. Like most areas of programme collecting buy whatever you fancy!

Cheers for the reply slightfold. I have found this site so helpful already (doesn't seem to be a clique) having only been collecting since June last year... though been to over 1000 games- why on earth did i not collect back then. Having said that, I am in the process of diging out what i did buy along the way: around 200 so that'll boost my collection.

Apart from that collection, I am starting small with just one season as the moment home and away and pick a few things from other seasons as i go along. I am also backing and boarding my collection as I go along.

Indeed, each to their own, but it is amazing already the buzzI get when I find one I need. As I am sure you all get.

I do agree, one covering all would seem enough - esp if it is a rarer one

I just obtain the one programme - but the problem arises when it comes to my spreadsheet records.

For instance, 68/9 Derby v Sunderland/St.Johnstone........do I list that one under "Sunderland" or under "St.Johnstone"? Or create a new cobbled-together heading of "Sunderland/St.Johnstone"?

It's a stressful enough life without these sort of insoluble issues making things worse!

The way I deal with it on my db (www.thefootballarchives.com) thanks for asking, is that each match is listed as a seperate entry and each programme can have it's on tick.

With regards how many copies you should own, personally I only have one even for double header programmes (fairly common in non-league collections such as mine), I did have duplicates for a while, but thought what is the point ? The content is exactly the same, the only thing I can suggest is try and get a teamsheet for EACH match, that way it feels more complete Smile

It's easier for us '1 club collectors' - the programme is what it is: covering the club I am interested in.

Grantham has a good point about Teamsheets if you collect more than one club...........
