Is the England number 9 Bobby Smith?
I was reading about him the other day. Seems to have had a major fallout with someone at WHL that ended his career there and with England but didn't give any more details as to why.

I have the programme but I won't look.
I think
1.Frank Haffey Celtic
2.Bobby Shearer Rangers
3.Eric Caldow Rangers
4.I think Dave Mackay Derby although he may have been with a Scottish club then.
5.Billy McNeil
6.
7.
8.
9. Ian St John Motherwell
10.Quinn Celtic
11 Davie Wilson Rangers
I have no idea about the England team although my big brother will know it off by heart.
A better version of mine mate, great idea.

Dave MacKay has to be in the top 3 players ever to go from Scotland to England, £30,000 and on the same wages as he was on at Hearts. My other 2 players would be Kenny Dalgleish and John White. What do others think ?

Number 7 for Scotland must have been Johnny MacLeod.

Wasn't this a rather one-sided match in the end?

A player that i dought is familiar to many on this site the great Alex Young (The Golden Vision) who Everton signed from Hearts for £42,000 in 1960 , would always be in my top three of any players signed from Scotland.

A very gracefull player who i would say was the best header of a ball i have ever seen was only 5ft 9 in but few got the better of him when the ball was in the air he had great timing.

Was real sad recently at one of Evertons home games to se him and his wife in Goodison Rd making his way to the ground and almost going totaly unrecognised.
But will never be forgoten with fans of my generation ,one of the true greats.

Can't argue with that trio but I'd add the names of Alex James and Hughie Gallacher.

Its amazing isnt when we name god knows how many players from Scotland who came to England and were rather decent in the past i wonder what Scotland would give now for some of those players to be 21 again. When i was growing up the Scots always had good hard working sides with one or two genius's in their teams. I would add to that list Souness (even though im blue) Jim Baxter when he came to Sunderland Macari Gough Donachie Hartford Rioch Jordan and our very own Graeme Sharp Smile and of course the most famous skillfull Scot ever to have graced Goodison Mr Alex Young God Bless. Smile

Aye I wish Hearts had those 2 back today, MacKay and Young will always be Jambos in my eyes. They played in the best ever Hearts team in the late 50s Happy days to be a Jambo.

8 Correct for Eck, surprised you missed Dennis Law though!!!
McLeod is right Derby. But whose the Scotland No6??
Bluenose 7 Correct not Simpson, Caldwell or Greig.
surfinjim,yours are both OK.
Derby don't know what happened to Bobby Smith but he transferred to
Brighton & HA May 1964 and played 31 games scoring 18 goals, don't
know what happened after that, he was aged 31 at that time, a bit
young to retire !!!!! i'll bet someone on here will know???

Still looking for England No's 3,4,8,10 & 11?????
