Firstly - some good news, I've made an Excel 2003 compatible version. The bad news is, some of the features won't work properly. Sorting can only take three values in Excel 2003, so I'm not sure how well that's going to work, and some of the conditional formatting won't work properly either.

However it will do the basic things right, and if you guys could give me some feedback on things that don't work properly that'd be great.

Download link is in the original post.

Barrett - I had considered using check boxes, just felt that it was easier to use the . and , because it saves having to use the mouse, and it's easier to transfer that to information on other sheets as well.

Thanks for that Geddon

using the "." or "," in the away section doesn't colour, also in the away section if you enter the "." for not got it comes out on the panel as got and vice versa for the ",".

Any chance of an FA trophy section especially as league teams could now take part in this if they spend a season or two in the conference.

not turns up as green and got turns orange in home column no colour in away section, in the section where it lists the league teams for the season the home team name is imported but not the away and finally in the totals page at the beginning not got has imported into the got column

Finally finally how do you save the document on your own computer I can't see any option for this after downloading the document.

Yes I'd noticed that it doesn't colour, Excel 2003 only supports limited conditional formatting, will have to take a look at that for the next version.

. is for got, and , is for not got - I made a mistake on the 2009/10 page, but that's the way round they should be.

FA Trophy is something that could be added to the next version, cheers.

I'm not sure what you mean by the league teams not showing the away team, do you mean that the away columns are not colouring in correctly or something else?

Thanks for the feedback though, knew it'd a be a little raw, was hoping it'd be a little better than it is though!

when you enter the teams on the seasons page it then transfers them to the seasons on page O but it doesn't the away teams not from the 09/10 season anyway

thanks for doing this by the way

Oh, I see what you mean now. I had it programmed so that it only adds the teams if they're in the home section - basically it assumes that if you played that team at home in the league in a certain season then you played them away as well, so there was no need to add them on both sides. Does anyone think that it's worth changing that? I don't know of any leagues where you play different teams home and away?

No problem, it's just grown out of the one I made for myself basically.

Geddon,

Why do you use 3 columns to input the date? I never set up the original version (1.0) but i did put all my data into a copy of your original file but i cant seem to import it. Did i read somewhere you said i should be able to?

Help please!!

Craig

Sorry guys, only just seen your comments.

Steve - I don't know why it's doing that, but you should just be able to click "end" and it won't affect anything else.

Craig - Not sure really mate, I did it originally because it looks a little tidier. You should be able to import the data yes, if you use the importer on the home tab. Make sure that the only spreadsheet you have open is the one you want to import into though, might not work otherwise, and probably best to make a backup as well, the code isn't great!!

YCFC - Not at the moment, but you could just use two different spreadsheets.

Steve, I'm not sure what's causing that to be honest, I've never had a problem with it. What error message (if any) are you getting when it crashes? I am working on a new version, but it'll be a while before it's released because I'm going to attempt to fix the 2003 version as well.

Craig, I'm doing yours at the moment, should have it back with you later in the day.

I use Microsoft Access to keep track of my collection. I can perform SQL queries against my collection. I can also correlate it to the my Access databases for the FA Cup, FA Trophy, and FA Vase databases. I also have Access databases for all NPL games, Football League (incl. Premiership), Conference (including GOLA and APL) and rounds proper for the FA Amateur Cup. These can all be subjected to SQL queries which match each other.
In many cases there are a few programmes offered on E*Bay where the seller doesn't know which season or the exact nature of the game played. In most cases I can tell him much about his programme.

Sure, I don't mind. It's quite a big task though.
My Access design view is as follows:
GIDX: Index value
Home Team: Text
Away Team: Text
Venue
Competition
Date Played
Season
Cover Price
Volume
Number
Quantity
Pages
Condition
Style
Size
Date Acquired
Price Paid
Current Price
Source (of acquisition)
E*Bay (yes or no)
E*Bay_Name
Score
My Collection Volume
Neutral Venue
Spare_4 - often used a s a pointer to image of programme
Spare_5
Spare_6 - often contains actual E*Bay number for auction when won item
Note

I have written many queries - too many to list. For example
..Leeds in Inter-City Fairs.. enquiry
SELECT [Programme Collection].[Home Team], [Programme Collection].[Away Team], [Programme Collection].Venue, [Programme Collection].[Competition], [Programme Collection].[Date Played], [Programme Collection].Season, [Programme Collection].Score, [Programme Collection].[Cover Price], [Programme Collection].[Date Acquired], [Programme Collection].Source
FROM [Programme Collection]
WHERE (
((InStr([Programme Collection].[Competition],"Inter-City"))>0
OR
(InStr([Programme Collection].[Competition],"U.E.F.A"))>0)
AND
(((InStr([Programme Collection].[Home Team],"Leeds"))>0)
OR
((InStr([Programme Collection].[Away Team],"Leeds"))>0))
)
ORDER BY [Programme Collection].[Date Played];
