following on from a previous thread, i've just done a search of past ebay sales, and the price of some Chelsea tickets are mind boggling.
I mean not even old or rare stuff. Like £50 plus for a few 1980s home ticket stub. Totally the most insane prices i have ever seen in my years of collecting.

The Chelsea tickets have a different set of collectors to the Chelsea (Peter Bonetti) press photos but, in both cases, it is a combination of big egos with big bank balances that is creating this exceptional market !!

Utter madness.

Given the evidence of this thread and the other boys thread it looks like some odd behaviour. I'm going to leave ebay for a while i've too many things not turned up in the post recently and paying extra postage through twats that don't know how to send a package.

Chelsea tickets going through the same phase Chelsea programmes did a few years ago. The same people involved as with the programmes, their money has bought all the programmes they can buy so they turn to tickets. Remember £100 to these guys is like £1 to most of us.

At least that one is from Chelsea first Champions season. Still, well overpriced for my taste but, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay as they say. I would rather buy something that I know I can at least get my money back on or worse maybe take a small loss.

Guess, the real lesson here, is if you've got any Chelsea tickets sell now before the market returns to normality .

Do you know this for a fact?

If so, who are "they"?

I've got a Chelsea v Club America ticket from the game played at Cowboys stadium in Texas in 2009. Anyone any idea of a value for that.

I'm not in the ticket market usually, and I don't sell on Ebay, but I have 2 Chelsea tickets as follows:-

Chelsea v Sheffield Weds 11.1.1967 West Stand Enclosure 4 shillings vgc

Chelsea v Man Utd 21.3.1970 - this has been sellotaped into the inside front cover along its top edge, so you get prog & ticket. Prog is vgc with tc inside plus this ticket.

No idea on value, it says above that they are going through the roof but there's a few others on Ebay showing 99p. Please PM me if interested.

This one's a modern rarity, from our pre season friendly with Chelsea in 1983, I've never seen another ......... that said, if one of those Chelsea ticket lunatics offered me a ton for it, I'd be a little bit tempted ... Very Happy

It's interesting trying to understand the philosophy of some on this forum.

If you have a willing seller and probably several willing buyers why does the price amaze some to the extent that they have to make comments like £100 to them is like £1 to us.

Sounds envious to me frankly

Just what is too expensive and what is too cheap.

I see Sheffield programmes(both Wednesday and United) from a period of say 1910 to 1930 not selling for about £30 each.
I could suggest that thi9s is the market place of supply and demand or i could say Sheffield is full of skint people without a pot to piss in.

The most used thought on this forum is "a bit skint at the moment mate"
I personally would like to own a 1909 FA Cup Final which came up recently at Graham Budds and sold for more than £20k
There is another at his next auction and i for one won't be bidding as i can't afford it but i don't think anybody who does bid is a lunatic.

Anyway i am off out for a meal.
I am sure there are a few who think i will be mad paying 25 quid for a good bottle of wine when you can gets gnats piss for £3

and by the way i offered the wife a burger and the lunatic has demanded a steak

Very Happy Very Happy

These chelsea tickets sell for peanuts to be honest compared to some. I have been following the Belgium ticket market for a couple of years now, i have a good collector friend from there who i speak to to often, 4-5 collectors will battle it out for tickets from 6 months ago and they often reach £200+. European tickets from 1990s i've seen sell at over €500
