Quick and correct. I got the first two and had to trawl through a book to get Storey-Moore!

This one was popular back in the days before pub quizzes were actually called pub quizzes!

"When did Wednesday fall to Monday on a Thursday?"

Yes - it's football related

I suspect Sheffield Wednesday played a team on a Thursday who had a player caller "Monday" who scored the only goal!

Spot on. Chesterfield, it was, who knocked them out of the Cup in a replay played on a Thursday. Late 1930s or thereabouts. Herbery Monday (there's a great name) scored the only goal.

a good few that had me stumped were:

Name the only team in England and Scotland with a 'J' in their name...

what is the largest city never to have a league team?

which football team is closest to the river mersey?

Well, St.Johnstone are the only LEAGUE team - though there are a few non-league, of course.

River Mersey - is it Tranmere Rovers? Or, perhaps, Marine?

The city - no idea....is it Gloucester?

A couple of old standards - but they can still stump people:

--which British club was the first to play in the European Cup?

--which club were the very first to use a substitute?

and one which might get people thinking!!

--Fred Bradley was a Stoke fan who didn't miss a single home game between 1924 and 1967.....yet he never saw them play. Why was that?

(and, no, he wasn't a fan who had lost his sight)

Aston Villa, Liverpool, Northampton Town, charlton Athletic, York City, that's five and that's without looking.
