Come on John you could miss an unimportant match for a day out in Macc! Just think, Waters Green Tavern, The Wharf, Snow Goose, treacle Tap, The Macc and The Railway - all on the route from the station to the ground.

Roland, much as I thoroughly enjoy my real ale travels, and I found some wonderful ones in Chester last weekend, I'd rather be on the end of one of Mister Gas's unexpected postal surprises than miss a Talbot semi final!

There is a travelodge directly outside the train station in Macc. It is quite modern and only built a couple of years ago. - about a twenty minute walk to the ground.

If you do decide to stay there then the directions are as follows:

Walking

As you leave the station, at the bottom of the station approach, turn left onto Sunderland Street and follow until the traffic lights at Park Green (War memorial and gardens). Turn left onto Mill Lane (it is probably better to cross onto the opposite side of the road here at the traffic lights) and follow this road which becomes London Road. Just after passing the Catholic Church on the right the ground comes into sight ahead.

Bus

To reach the bus station from Macclesfield railway station, cross the main road outside the station using the pedestrian crossing, turn right and then turn left by the car showroom into Waters Green and follow this road up the hill (Queen Victoria Street) to the bus station on the left. Buses returning from the ground stop on the main road outside the railway station

Time and Route:

Service 9 Moss Rose circular - every 30 minutes (hourly at night and on Sundays)

John,
The shop will be open on friday 11th May from about 6.30 onwards, if you can't make it then we can always arrange to open on other dates as well.
Thanks for enquiring.

Anyone going to Macclesfield Fair on Apr 15th do me a BIG favour?

Sherlock Can you look out for a copy of Macclesfield v Kidderminster 1996-97 season and Runcorn v Enfield 1981-82 season from the APL/Conference games.

Only need these 2 programmes to complete my 5th tier collection!

Thanks in advance, Ian. Love

Always on the lookout for this programme for you so I will certainly have a look to see if it turns up at the fair. I know there is a lad with a lot of Macc programmes from the 90s holding a stall so there is a slight chance he may have it.

Wasn't able to find the Macc programme today sorry. There was a lot of the Spalding Cup game from the same year but none from the league.

I will still keep a lookout for it nonetheless

Well a lot of people asking who is going, who will be selling, how to get there-where to stay-where to eat-where to drink, but no one has said how it went and it was a week ago!.
Well........ Sherlock

well still not one response to my question

DID ANYONE GO TO MACCLESFIELD??
How come such reluctance for anyone to comment-what about the macclesfield member on this forum-did you go? how come you have nothing to say?-talk about labouring the point here!
incredible all those posts and not ONE person has anything to say,was it that BAD or GOOD?

maybe we should debate rusting staples, ebay, dealers making too much money, half wits offering rubbish items on here or any other topics that have been mentioned a hundred times already-yet no one is arsed to even comment on the fair in my home town-why didn't i go? too busy helping old ladies a
to cross the road all morning.

Apologies I have only just seen the thread. From a buyers point of view I thought it was a great fair as there was plenty on offer, the venue was great and a lot of variety. The amount of dealers there were in double figures so there was plenty to choose from.

The stock did have a slight Stoke bias as the organisers are the same who run the Stoke fair but it was very good overall and I hope it becomes an annual event.

However for the sellers I do not know whether it was as successful. I did hear one say 'Great venue, shame about the lack of punters' but it did seem to get busier from that point onwards. I was not there for long enough to know what it was like throughout the day but it seemed pretty good to me.

Like I said before it was a good fair, lots on offer and hopefully will happen again next year.

Just a quick note - different organisers from the organisers of the Stoke Fair... suprised by the Stoke bias in stock as there reallly wasnt a of the major Stoke/Vale specialists there.... not knocking the fair in anyway...... just saying Neutral

I meant to say one of the main organisers was a Stoke fan who normally holds a stall at Stoke. I still thought the variety there was great as it wasn't just programmes but pennants, books, badges etc.

That's as maybe, Barry. But you know that it's so important for fairs to not only materialise, but to flourish, and fairs such as Macclesfield need to be encouraged. More power to their elbows. Disappointed not to have been there, but thanks to the Scottish Junior Football Association I would have been even though it's a 350 mile round trip.
