I had two recorded delivery items delivered without even having to sign for them - I did consider reporting the postman but it's a long walk to the post office from my house so he's actually doing me a favour

Recorded delivery is a complete waste of time, and money, it's more often used by debt agencies, or people looking for money or some written proof that they have told you something. Most postmen never bother with signature for these today, they do it for you, and then maybe ram it through your letterbox. What's the answer? Special delivery is expensive but does usually comes seperately, and is usually undamaged.

I have an hippo box on the side of my house, and an arrangment with the post-lady to sign for me if I'm not in. She then sticks them in the hippo box and it's locked. Good investment that was because at the time we had a spreader by the name of Joe the lab Smile

Even special deliverys seem to get rammed through nowadays, they used to come with a man in a van but due to the government cuts they now come with the post man (at my house anyway) and as i get a few specials regular he signs them himself and shoves them through, i've got loads of stuff recently that have made it 50-80 years unfolded and are now folded or bent / damaged. If i'm at home that day i have resorted to leaving the front door wide open around the time he comes

Just out of interest Cossie, what time does your postman arrive? What's your programme collection worth?

And where do you live?!!

I've had problems as my current address does not have a letterbox in the door but a wall mounted mail box on the side of the house, on a few occasions I have had A4 items left poking out the top in the rain and on one occasion a small parcel left out in the open at the back of the house as I wasn't home when they attempted delivery, unbelievable. The process for any loss or damage claim is a pain in the backside too.

He arrives 10.30-11 without fail unless it snows, i have CCTV so don't mind leaving the front door open, had to resort to this after some idiots tried to steal one of my cars a few years back but my Chinese Shar Pei took a disliking to them and took a large chunk out of one of them and the police caught them through DNA left from blood stains
