This is a programme I need, and it's fairly rare. The consensus amongst Scotland collectors is that its worth around £250/300 mark, a mate of mine was lucky enough to pick-up a copy off Brazilian ebay for £100 a year or so ago.
A copy appeared last week on UK ebay from a well known dealer and has just ended, I'm totally gobsmacked at the price its made, totally crazy!

Just what is going on on ebay just now, some of the prices I have witnessed recently, even for fairly common issues, are way OTT. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

May be totally wrong but i believe the involvement of Russia in the tournament may have pushed the price to silly amount, there is a new wave of collector from Russia where money seems to be totally irrelevant. Four seperate bidders prepared to pay around and over £1000 shows the real demand. |

That was my initial thoughts as well, I dont think any Scottish or Irish collector would throw that sort of money at it. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

I don't think it's that rare to be honest (although I dont have it unfortunately!)
After this auction ended, a Scottish dealer put on a spare copy he had for Buy It Now for £1800 and it went within an hour! (I understand not to Russia but to the Far East) and there is now a third copy on ebay and I also know the seller, who is trying to make hay whilst the sun is very much shining. A friend of mine managed to get a copy last year for £100, and another collector I know sold his copy in a private deal for £300.
The question that I did have was does this particular programme ie purple with "Extra 3" on the cover, cover the whole tournament or just the latter stages? I'm almost certain I have seen other similar programmes for this tournament, could be wrong. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |

The programme is the official Brazilian FA monthly magazine. The so called recview edition is the following month's magazine. A number of these were on ebay a year or 2 ago
This could now become a reasonably common issue as I'm sure some locals in Brazil are aware of the price realised and may be able to get some.
I've no doubt the programmes o nebay are genuine and most likely are people trying to cash in.
It os of ointerest to Republic of Ireland and Scotland collectors and I was looking for one for quite a few years before getting one in an exchange with another collector here in which I gave some really rare stuff to get it. I was outbid in Sports once and that was the only time I'd seen one. subsequently another collector here got one and there was one for sale at the Dublin programme fair of 2010 at 180 euros which I thought cheap but didn't buy, a SCottish dealer also passed and an English dealer bought it. I obviously regret not buying it now.
ebay is great for tuurning up obscure foreign programmes. There is obviously the risk of forgeries. The number of people willing to pay silly money is also small. |

I think that £200-£300 is the real value of this programme based on its rarity, or at least it was up until a week ago.
There were four different bidders who took the first one over £1000, two of whom now have copies [both non-UK , or at least that’s what I understand]. It’s therefore reasonable to assume that there are another couple of collectors out there who are willing to pay around £1k for this programme, and will probably get the ones currently on ebay once the price inevitably drops.
After that? Who knows, but I suspect this programme will become one of those where high prices are asked which don’t really reflect its rarity and eventually there will be copies sitting forever at Buy It Now for £500 or £600 with no takers. At least, that’s what my crystal ball is telling me, hopefully one day those Brazilians come up with more [genuine] copies!
I doubt any of the four copies over the last week are forgeries, two came from the same well known dealer, and two came from known sources who I can say are 100% reliable, I would also imagine that it’s not easily forgeable given it’s a multi page issue, I suppose you never know though. _________________ https://www.flickr.com/photos/footballprogrammes/albums |
