Hi guys after your help and input please ?
I am a collector of Bradford City memorabilia especially programmes and teamsheets . Due to family commitments i attend most home games but unfortunately dont get the chance to attend away games due to either work or cost . I rely on a fellow collector who sends emails to the opposing clubs that we play during a season to get hold of the prog and teamsheet to assist my collection .
Up until last season this wasnt a problem especially the programme as he orders around 12 to 15 at a time for fellow collectors . He also asks for the teamsheet and if it means paying for it along with the programme he will .
It has now come to light this season that certain clubs are unwilling to cooperate in sending copies of the teamsheets to go with the programme . Clubs are coming up wiuth excuses such as they only print so many , they only issue them to certain members of the home team and dont make them available to away teams etc ?
Do other collectors come across this senario ? Is there members out there that would be willing to do a swap service if the need is required ?
Im sure that a teamsheet does not require such a massive outlay that is going to affect them ?
If need be then i will name and shame the 3 clubs so far that have been unhelpful in the quest of collecting !
Do any other collectors have this problem ? I know i maybe talking small clubs compared to the premiership/championship etc but a club is a club regardless of what division they are in ?
Regards Garry

i did collect teamsheets until a couple of years ago and I used to send a stamped addressed envelope immediately after the game. All the premier clubs obliged with at least one teamsheet but quite often sending several. The only club who wouldn't was man utd who said they only gave them to press.

Dont disagree in what you did there as i would do the same . Surely thou if you purchashing a reasonable amount of programmes i.e. 12-15 for a group of fellow collectors then not only are you contributing around £60 to the coffers of a potential struggling club then assisting with adding a teamsheet whether at a cost or not should not really be putting the club out of their way to do such a thing or should it ?

On the same sort of subject, Scotland are playing Brazil at the Emirates in a fortnights time, what are Arsenal like at making teamsheets available to the public?

I collect Brighton awaysthat I go to, as being disabled I am unable to note down the teams .

Have had those excuses myself on occasions, but surely these days they would be done on a PC, so its hardly diffficult to run off a few extras , for costs incurred etc.

incidentally noticed Brentfords programme shop advertising all this seasons team sheeets available, home and away.

have many Brighton homes available , many from a reporter so are marked or creased etc

Why can't more clubs follow the example of Sunderland and have teamsheets available for download on their website ?

In principal you're right, but maybe it's the relatively large number that is the problem.

Personally, I usually ask for the one, sometimes two, and I've never failed to get one.

Your mate's request may be genuine but maybe Clubs have got a little wiser to people who ask for a handful for free and then see them getting flogged on ebay on a sunday night for a profit. (I'm sure that's how Manchester United see it).

Recently, experience suggests that at some Clubs it's easier to get hold of teamsheets than others.
Barnsley, Bristol City, Wigan etc etc you can download
Some clubs have them available in the club shop.
And yet only last week I spoke to two members of staff at Chesterfield who said even they can't get one on matchday and they work there.

It also depends on who you contact. This season I've needed to email 3 clubs for a teamsheet (Notts County, Millwall & Notts Forest).
All three replied within an hour, and all three sent one out (notts County four) same day for delivery the following day at no charge whatsover).
To her credit the lass at Millwall said she'd just sent out the last one and she emailed me 30 minutes later to tell me she'd found one in the office and she'd send it.

Smoggy let me know if you want one next month?

Yes Sharrowblade can agree with you there . The download option certainly would be a welcome idea if all clubs were made aware of this .
Surely the clubs will reconise that when my mate pays for the progs either by cash , cheque , or credit card he is not out there to sell on and make a profit . A piece of A4 paper will not send a club into financial meltdown .
Chesterfield is one of the clubs i had yet to name , but its unbelieveable that a club that has moved to a new ground can not print enough to even be available to staff ? This isnt a good example for a club at a new venue as the facilities are all brand new and the photocopier will be as well(well it should be) . They wouldnt even respond to emails i sent them when i was (still am)trying to get hold of a programme from the season before !
If anyone can help me obtain or can put me in the right direction then please let me know as its a shame that i cant have a full and complete set for the season . Guess this means i maybe shaming the clubs but i will take the risk of the potential backlash i may get from supporters of the clubs i mention .
Teamsheets required from this season so far are :
Rotherham & Chesterfield

Arsenal print hundreds if not thousands for all the lounges so you should be ok.

If anyone wants any V Norwich our club shop does them for 25p each - which seems like easy money to me!!!!

Very Happy

Stevenage did not want to give us one when we played them in a pre-season game - "press only" they said. My mate works for the BBC so got his pass out, not that he was working on the game. They relucantly handed one over.

Cheers Paulo, I might drop them an email and see if I can pre-order a few.

When Rep. of Ireland played Brazil at the Emirates I had no problem getting some. You need to go to the rpess area on the bottom tier to get them or on the middle tier.

Some clubs are really tight with teamsheets. Really annoying. No problem with a charge which makes it easier all round.

If you can't get one on the day of the match then write to the Press Officer at the Emirates afterwards and they usually oblige.
