Linked to the who is producing thread I Thought it might be useful to have a list of clubs that no longer print programmes together with details of the last printed match programme. I’ve made a bit of a start and hoping forum members can help fill in a few of the blanks…

Worryingly I make 15 EFL clubs and counting who no longer do a programme if u were born in the last century or “matchday magazine” if ur a child of the 21st century ?

Accrington, v Cambridge 22/23
Blackburn, ??
Bradford, v Carlisle 21/22
Bristol City, ??
Carlisle, v Stockport (play off) 22/23
Crawley, v Walsall 22/23
Fleetwood, ??
FGR, ??
Mansfield, ??
Millwall v Peterborough 21/22
Morecambe v Lincoln 22/23
Reading, ??
Stevenage, ??
Swansea, ??
Wycombe v Bolton 21/22

Carlisle's last home one was v Bradford City in the playoff semifinal. Stockport would be at Wembley

Some of these clubs still do on-line programmes which can be printed if you can find a suitable printer. In Scotland, Dundee United have gone 'digital only' for 2023-24 but their website says you can order printed copies direct from Curtis Sport, which sounds like a reasonable compromise.

Fleetwood Town's last printed programme was for the last game before the world stopped for Covid against local rivals Blackpool played on 7th March 2020. Nothing since then apart from team sheets.

Reading's last officially produced programme was for the game against Stoke City dated 14/3/20, the game was postponed due to the Covid pandemic and eventually played on 20/6/20 when only a teamsheet was issued.

I recall that the EFL matches scheduled for Sat 14th March were postponed only the day before, so I guess that some clubs such as Reading must have already printed the programmes. Surely some programmes must have been kept aside to be put on sale later, rather than be pulped?

Post subject: Last Official Programmes - Millwall still producing
Reply with quote

Hi
While I can understand why Millwall are on this list of 'last officially produced programmes', I just wanted to make sure that this doesn't give the impression that Millwall are not producing Matchday Programmes anymore; because there is one!

Fans Group Producing Millwall Programme
A Millwall fans group, under moniker "smprogramme", with some staff/writers that used to work on the official Club prog, took over the roll of producing the Millwall Matchday prog, and produced their first prog for Friendly Millwall v Ipswich game on 23rd July 2022.

Official Club Backing
This programme has the official support & backing from the club, and is on sale at the ground on Matchdays (or you can pre-order via e-mail).

So it kinda still is an official programme, but produced by an associated fans group to the Club.

Good Content
Since they started I, and many others, think they have done a fantastic job making these programmes. Which while smaller and thinner than previous versions, still includes all the correct kind of information; news, match reports, articles, history, fans & players info, and pictures, etc, just like a normal regular programme.

In fact, I think they have put the club to shame, by successfully producing an affordable programme, within a set, non-loss making budget, that shows you can produce a programme and not make a big loss. Something the Club didn't even bother trying to work out and see if they could do before announcing they stopping..!

Good Example
Which is something I think many clubs should be looking into before announcing they are going to cease making Matchday Club programmes. If they come and see our fans group, then they could see it is possible to produce a Matchday programme without making a huge loss (although I should point out that the Millwall Prog is produced by unpaid volunteer fans).

Millwall Still Producing Matchday Programmes
Anyway, I just wanted to make it clear that Millwall are still producing Matchday progs, with official blessing from rhe Club, on sale at ground on Matchdays.

Real Deal
And they are proper programmes - unlike some of those so called dodgy 'fans editions', which generally on sale via eastern Europe addresses. Millwall's progs are still the real deal and I highly recommend them.

Many thanks
GaryF

Someone has posted on the Non-League Matters forum saying that there was no programme at the Millwall v Charlton PSF last night which attracted a crowd of over 7,000. It has been known, however, for posts on this forum (which is otherwise excellent) to contain inaccurate information about programmes.
