So my kids ( small adults really) have sent my missus and I back to Paris where we got engaged for a small break .....and I seem to have persuaded her that it would be romantic to visit the local flea markets etc ...

Has anyone ever scoured this City for sporting bits and bobs?

Any hints on good areas to visit for second hand stuff?

I see PSG are home to Reims on the 29th Smile

How about not dragging your Mrs around something that interests you, there are plenty of other interesting things to see in Paris, just a thought.

A few years back I was working in Paris for six weeks, and spent some of my spare time trawling through the markets for exactly this purpose. Sum total of my search: nothing. Not even overpriced tat. Of course you might get lucky, but sports collecting is really not much of a thing in France.

A better bet would be to forget about buying, and visit the National Museum of Sport, or buy tickets to a football match.

But I would tend to agree with farmersboy and suggest you just focus on your wife.

I’ve put some thought into your dilemma and have also asked my missus for some advice.. . PSG v Reims is an evening kick-off. Don’t know if your wife is a football fan, but you might never get the chance to see Messi, Mbappe and Neymar in the same line-up again. Tell your missus that as a special treat you are taking her to see three world class footballers. Also, why not split up for a few hours during the day and go and check out the flea markets on your own. I’ve got a feeling you are destined to find something special. A few years ago l was in The Trafford Centre , Manchester during a Christmas shopping trip . I’m not really into shopping and decided to go off on my own for a few hours. I ended up sitting next to a 1966 World Cup hero( Nobby Stiles) on a bench outside a shop. Nobby looked cheesed -off and he said was fed up Christmas shopping as well! This reminds me of the Bill Shankly story. He was asked was it true that he took his new wife to see a football match during their honeymoon? He confirmed that it was..Let us know what happens Laughing

So the lovely lady has seen Messi at camp Nou...not that she remembered at all....

In fact she almost had the hospitality area we were in evacuated as in those days she was a "social smoker' and she was blowing her fumes away from the other people we were with and therefore straight into the smoke alarm which promptly went off...

She's quite happy to do a shopping mooch around the markets so we will see what happens...am not expecting to find anything but you never know

Just checked rule 28 of The Football Programme Forum . It states : ‘ Members of the football programme forum are allowed special dispensation to seek far and wide for football treasure , particularly when travelling abroad’ . Then again, it might well be an ecumenical matter Laughing
