You can tell by the print on the whistle that it's recent and not old. It's a shame bidder's identities are hidden these days or somebody could warn the bidder that it's a con.

He has three different 'cup final whistles' on there. I've reported all three to Ebay saying I think they're fake. We'll see what happens! Smile

I've also reported every whistle this chap has advertised.
Interesting to note that, in addition to the three fa cup final examples, the exact same font is used for the 1915 copa del Rey and the 1950 charity shield.

Unfortunately Ebay are not interested if it is fake or not - they just want their fees. I have given up reporting fake autographed items and the like as nothing ever gets pulled. Even items with so called authenticity documents are often not worth the paper they are written on.

I am afraid that this is the culture we are now in - Caveat Emptor

I messaged him.....asked if they were from the actual match..his reply reeks of conman....

Hi,
I don’t know much about them to be honest but I have read somewhere
that copies were made in the 30’s and 40’s but having no specific
provenance it’s hard to be sure. I would say if you have doubts then
probably best not to bid.

I seem to recall when you recently joined the forum, i amongst others welcomed you and asked if you would care to share some of the items that you have as you told us all you have been collecting for over 40 years and are interested in Pre-War items but to date some months later there was not even the courtesy of a reply even if to say that you were not interested in sharing anything. It is of course your choice not to show anything, but i think that it would have been good manners to reply.

There was also a 1948 Refs Whistle as well that was sold by this same reprobate who resides in Scotland who is not British but is making a living out of scamming folk.

This 1948 Whistle was not on ebay but another collector i know was contacted by "someone" who pointed him in the right direction for this Acme Thunderer for just 200 quid. When it became evident that this toe rag was buying in original old Whistles and having them engraved i sent images of the 1948 Whistle[that the collector sent to me] to Acme Whistles as i knew person there and had had conversations with him before. On the images i sent he confirmed the whistle was one of theirs but the engraving was not original and it was in effect worthless. I advised the collector who contacted Acme and he sent it to them and they confirmed it was not original and destroyed it for him as that is what he wanted. Personally i would have kept it and used it advise others and perhaps one day shove up the guys rear end if i came across him.

Fortunately, these are all originals thankfully! https://flic.kr/p/6kHmAH

Me thinks that somewhat may have switched the items as the Villa whistle clearly says Real Madrid on the engraving.

Same conman operating on ebay, reported it twice but no one at their end gives a hoot, never even get any reply from them, hope no one gets caught out again.

Looking at his feedback I spotted this piece of neutral feedback:

Good shipping and OK item, but description was misleading. Item described as being a WW2 US Navy (antique), but is a reproduction made by a novelty company in Greenwich, England sometime in the last decade. As a result I overpaid for a toy rather than getting a deal on a rare treasure. I understand that the seller purchased the item at an antique fair and that it has the name of a WW2 ship and WW2 naval commander etched on it, but Seller should have been more careful with his wording

So clearly everything he sells is fake, not just the whistles

The same guy is also listing many items on Etsy, under the name of Slomski11: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/slomski11?ref=l2-about-shopname

The page indicates his name is ANDRII BOHUSLAVSKYI and he lives in Glasgow, but whether that is a genuine name is hard to say.

So ANDRII BOHUSLAVSKYI of Glasgow sells fake engraved items on eBay as esp2021 and on Etsy as slomski11

He also sells reproduction coins and fake coins

Google searches should at least help some unwary buyers avoid being conned by this gentleman - if you search for "ANDRII BOHUSLAVSKYI" this thread comes up along with recent news reports about a pro Ukraine demonstration in Glasgow

The whistles are back! And a different seller this time, ludicrously claiming to be from the 1872 FA Cup final.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354707894789

I've reported it to ebay as a fradulent listing, but won't hold my breath for action. He's sold a couple of others recently on the same theme, so no excuses.

This is one purporting to be from 1932: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Newcastle-United-v-Arsenal-1932-FA-Cup-Final-Engraved-Referee-Whistle-WP-Harper-/354583383241

Meanwhile the original faker has moved from ebay to etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/964901754/english-football-1914-fa-cup-burnley-v

All of this is academic, Ebay will not do a thing about it.

However, if you were to suggest to that there is a strong suspicion that this toerag is actually running a kiddy porn sight and attracting folks in with his ebay listings that are totally fake to get into conversations so he can groom them, it is possible someone may just consider to look at it again, failing that i look forward to seeing the 1909, 1948 Cup Final whistles on ebay over the coming years.

I've looked at the new seller's feedback history - he made at least five purchases from the original Ukrainian fraudster in the past year or so and is now offloading the whistles, cigarette lighters and other worthless tat he purchased

So my guess is that he's realised these are forgeries and is trying to recoup some of the money he wasted himself

Ian1957togger from Buxton

The honest/decent thing to do would be to swallow his losses and throw them in the bin but I think we know that isn't going to happen

The only possible consolation is that this probably isn't a new supply here just the earlier ones recirculating
