Back when I started collecting, aside from my own team, I also used to collect England internationals and cup finals. The issues that were virtually impossible to come by were the South American World Club issues. The prices were astronomical if they EVER became available. At that time I don't recall seeing any but recently came across an old Football Monthly advert which clearly advertises the Racing v Celtic game for 4 shillings. If the dealer actually had the programme for sale in the first place then surely this would have ultimately lowered the prices realised in later years. I say this because I have personally ordered advertised programmes which did not exist. ( St Etienne v Liverpool 1977 from the Manchester Programme shop springs to mind)
I think the Celtic game goes for around £300 these days but I've seen it offered for up to four figures. I wonder what the Estudiantes v Man Utd issue goes for?!

I have actually got the Racing / Celtic programme from the carnage match in Argentina, if you've seen it. Bought with pocket money, along with many others as they became available, now over 50 to 55 years ago. European cup finals Celtic 67 and Man. U. 68. Many early FA Cup finals from 50s and 60s, '66 World Cup final - genuine not repro. and lots of early European and domestic cup semis. All are top condition.
I am now looking to sell at last, but am put off by reports of ripoff merchants. I do know the value of most of the rarer ones but would appreciate advice from genuine collectors on how best to qo about this. With thanks |

Welcome to the forum Luke
I would suggest uploading some photos and then fellow forum members should be able to advise accordingly.
Sounds like a great collection. |

Hi Jim
On the subject of your last comment-there were no official Estudiantes programme sold to the 70,000, BUT there was a programme with team line ups issued ONLY to the dignitaries of both clubs.
I have as it happens written a small article for the current months issue of December PM.
No more than a handful have ever surfaced and in the past and some have sold for 5 Figures++.
