In the Wycombe Wanderers v Portsmouth (we won, whoo hoo) programme today, it said that the programme for their game with Bolton Wanderers on 20th November will be the last paper edition. The club states 'as a club we are committed to moving further into the digital world and have some exciting plans to deliver our best-ever digital experience to our supporters, while continuing our journey towards having a paperless stadium, playing our part in the global sustainability efforts'.
They do say they might produce special editions for prestigious occasions, but the match-by-match programmes will. Be placed into retirement.
All that is great, but as programme collectors want a hard copy, then it's looking for someone to print it for you from now on.
I just hope they find other employment for the two ladies who greet you as you enter the car park at Adams Park. Always a smile when buying my programmes from them.

Chris, I'm afraid in 5 years time, football programmes as we knew them will be a thing of the past, except for the Premier League boys who will continue with their big magazines.
Mansfield Town stated at the start of this season that although their programme made a small profit, it had got to the stage where they had to review it's future, with falling sales.
They are using this season as a Litmus Test, and if the numbers do not stack up, they will not be producing after this season.
So sad I think.

If clubs are going to the effort of designing, I’m struggling to see how they can lose money by printing, unless they are printing silly amounts which they won’t sell.
