Sometimes I think some things are worth sharing with colleagues on the Forum.

This item relates to a Tour of Footballers representing the London Football Association , only 5 years after WW1.

The 18 man squad had players selected from the following clubs:

Wimbledon
Leytonstone
Dulwich Hamlet
Ilford
Casuals
Barking Town
Bostall Heath
Nunhead
West Norwood
Leyton
London Caledonians
Tufnell Park
Wood Green
Bromley
Hampstead Town

The Team Attendant ( Manager / Coach ) ? Was F.Piercey of West Ham United

When the card item is folded it measures about the size of a Postcard, and no no doubt fitted into a players suit pocket.

To me this is the kind of item I love collecting, Old , Rare, and just interesting!

Enjoy!

Great item Ian, and a relief to know that they smelled nice (take your own soap!)

Jealous. Do you have the results, if not I might have them in an old London FA handbook when I get back.

Do you mind saying how you came by it.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks New Forest,

It was a recent purchase on EBay.

Not particularly expensive, just one of those good buys you pick up now and again.

Are you a follower of one of the teams?

Cheers,

Ian

It is interesting that an England XI also toured Sweden, only a month prior (June). I cannot read the names there to see if any players travelled on both tours although I rather doubt it.

There was also nothing that I spotted in the FA Minutes (of various committees and sub-committees) about this London FA tour. I assume it was sanctioned.

According to RSSSF the London team won their first game 2-1 v Gothenburg.

(that is the only result they have from the tour).

That's a cracking item Ian! I have a couple of Itinerarys from the 20s as well - they are lovely items of history.

Thanks for sharing.
