Have sought, and got, permission to hold another Fair at Auchinleck Talbot, probably around May. Don't want to rush into things though as the last two we were scheduled to hold had to be cancelled, one because the WJFA said Beechwood had to be used as a Cup Final venue only a fortnight before we were due to hold it, and the second one due to Covid this year. Really don't want to get our fingers burnt a third time as punters will only put up with so much.

If, and when, it goes ahead details will be announced in the New Year.

What are the chances of this going ahead?

The last time I was down at Douglas' shop (a few weeks ago just before the Tier system came into play in Scotland) I was speaking with Gordon and it was very much still a bit of a who knows unfortunately.

As it stands, the advice regarding travelling to and from an area under a different tier system will already impact attendance from outwith Glasgow...…myself for example. I shouldn't really travel to Glasgow under the current rules. NEither should my mate who would normally go along as well

I also personally think that the slight relaxation of the Covid rules for the Christmas period may come back to haunt us a bit in the New Year and as a consequence, restrictions could be tighter again for a bit.

Hard to predict, and I hope I am wrong, but I think there is probably a bit of doubt around it.

Excellent news. For one reason or another I've never made it to a fair. Could this be the year?

Currently if you're in a tier 3 area you're not supposed to travel outside your own Council area. Also how will social distancing work, probably only room for one person at a time per table to keep within the 2m rule, how will this be controlled? Are multiple people going to be allowed to handle the same items without them being sanitised in between? lot's of Covid safe issues that need to be addressed.

Indeed. I live only 6 miles from the venue but according to the law I cannot attend as I live outside the Glasgow City Council area. Sadly, given the legislation relating to travel and the guidance on contact I would be astonished if it can go ahead.

Douglas had a meeting with the hotel to discuss safety measures and it was decided that things were too unstable to go ahead with the planned date.
Restrictions would have meant if there was a big turnout there would have been problems, people would only have a limited time in the hall and only 15 allowed in at one time, this just wouldn't work.
A new date has been penciled in March 28 2021.
The hall has been booked and hopefully things will have improved by then.
