How you keep your stuff

We've had a couple of threads on this over the years, but thought I'd share a couple of photos of my study/library/archive now that I've had a chance to get it halfway tidy during the never ending lockdown. Most of my collection is here apart from a few boxes dotted around the house.

Still in the attic for the moment but its nice and dry and well insulated. Not totally floored as yet so cant get a full photo as angles are a bit difficult but hopefully it gives an idea

Now I cannot read what is on the Binders if there are dates involved, but if you fill all f the binders its another bookcase then? or have you decided that this is the space you haave given and you do not intend to branch out further-maybe not as expansive as others but the efoorts for sure deserve to be just as well appreciated for sure-well done

All the programmes in the binders are re-sealable sleeves, I am currently scanning all of them so checking on staple bleed etc as I go.

Firstly, i have never seen a loft was clean and tidy-no incies hanging around or did you ask them to "shift" for the photo shoot!
Again well done for the organisation, i once had stuff stored similarly but the heat does rise then again everything is in the containers-same question to you-storing them is one thing but how do you actually keep them once inside the compartments-are they put in loosely or in some form of binders?, neatness and being tidy is the secret and you have made it look great

Thanks Leslie!

Each drawer has one or two seasons worth of programmes and it runs from left hand side (1945 when Stirling were formed) right round to present day. Within each drawer, every programme is within a plastic A4 wallet and backed with white card. They are also in date order and stacked with the spines of the programme at alternate positions.

The card is more than enough to keep the old programmes in good shape and flat, but i find alternating the stacking assists with the newer issues.

Having started writing about them in Programme Monthly means im in them all the time so i can check for any bleeds etc as I go.....and at some point im goung to start scanning them all.

There are a few more smaller drawer stacks out with picture and they house old player cards, fixture cards, team photos, autographs and even an old Stirling Subbuteo team from the 70s ( i believe)

I also have seperate drawers for fanzines, reserve programmes, Books and Special editions. Well, special editions to me anyway such as the programme and tickets for the Tour of Japan in 1967 and the first " history" book of the club from 1947 when the club were only two years old.

Again all these are in protective sleeves or folders.

Oh, and i have a drawer with old replica tops from when i was younger and old scarves......as sad as that is!

The bookcase contents cover 1945/46 to 1986/87 Leicester City Homes, {Blue binders} and Aways, {Green binders} . From season 1987/88 to date programmes are stored in plastic boxes in the loft. Everything in the loft is individually wrapped in plastic pockets prior to storage in boxes.
All the programmes within the binders are just placed within the plastic sleeves therein, keeping the binders as slim as possible. From 1953/54 onwards it is the DJ Bookbinders product. I added the earlier binders last year made by J.W.Binders. They did a very good job in replicating the DJ binders I purchased way back in the 1980`s.
The bookcase was a charity shop purchase, which to my delight, just managed to accommodate all the binders.

Many Years ago in another property when space was more of a Premium I had a set up like this mid 1980's to 1998

Since then i moved and now have 3 floors in a Town House and so i have been able to move around a little.

Excellent we are all tainted with this madness it seems-still "Every Man Should Have a Hobby" helps a great deal allowing you to unwind i reckon and also a sense of achievement!.

I knew you must have had some other stuff tucked away! I have seen those new binders but never purchased any-when i had to let it all go i once had 600 off them all from DJ so when some have turned up here and there over the years i have picked them up.

Lovely stuff Leslie I kind of hoped my post might prompt you to share some ManU museum porn

99.9% of my stuff is modern/worthless, but all the programmes are stored flat either in boxes or folders. The shelves and boxes are Ikea.(I think Andy may be a fan of Swedish flatpack furniture too!) I have a few nice solid file boxes, rescued from being dumped at an office I used to work, too.
Anything old/rare/valuable goes in standard ring binders, stored flat, in A4 pockets backed with light card or a couple of sheets of thick paper.. This is fine for almost all of my stuff. The very odd item than has any real value is in another proper protective sleeve within the binders.
I have a few more framed pieces up since I took the photos, it all evolves slowly. Non-soccer books etc may have to move out as the collection expands.

It has nothing to do with being worthless at all!, it is what pleases you and what you like to do-EVERY collection is individual and means something to each of us.
Gotta have an outlet and these days even more so to keep you on the straight and narrow!

Ah yeh, lots of it is financially worthless, but worth plenty to me, my only point was that my storage system is realtively inexpensive as I don't really have to worry about preserving museum quality items
