First time I have logged in for the last few days and was dismayed to read the sad news regarding John. Would like to add my condolences to John's
wife and family and agree with so many other Forum members that he willl certainly be missed. Bruce

I am trying not to be over sentimental but we have lost two really good people....could they be remembered on the site by putting their names on the categories....Everything Scottish in Honour of John, Forthcoming fairs in honour of Gordon?

Just a thought....

Peter

That is a brilliant idea Peter and it has been done. If anyone thinks the wording could be done better please give me a shout.

I took the liberty of contacting ATFC yesterday through their website, to ask if the patrons of FPC could do anything for the club in tribute to John.

By that I thought of sponsorship (eg kit or match ball), or an award or trophy (eg young player) or perhaps a sign in the club shop - anything really.

I indicated to him that I was sure that some patrons of the board would be happy banding together to provide some funding - I haven't made any commitment and I don't have a figure in mind.

Henry Dumigan, club secretary, responded quickly and said he would put the matter up for discussion at today's club meeting. So I await his further response.

I hope you chaps don't mind. I thought that with this season being over already for ATFC, we ought to act sooner rather than later.

Cheers all Thumbs Up

This is a great idea and I’d be up for contributing. I’m sure monies raised would cover a couple of things (maybe including a player sponsorship), but how about donating a trophy for ‘Clubperson of the year’ or similar, to be awarded each year to an unpaid volunteer who has gone above and beyond for the benefit of the club?

It is sad to hear about a highly regarded member of the forum.

Brilliant idea regarding sponsorship in his honour.

How about a Programme of the Year award in his honour instead?

I believe John used to do it for Programme Monthly.

Could set-up a sort of judging panel on here and dish out an annual award.

No reason why we can't do that on here and something else for John at ATFC.

I've had word back from Henry Dumigan, he's passed me over to Colin Chisholm who is the Commercial Manager at ATFC. He's going to get back to me with an idea of what they might be looking for.

Once he does that, I'll start a separate thread on here - headed something like "In Memory of John Holroyd" and then set out all the options and an indication of the necessary contributions - we could perhaps start a "Just Giving" account in his name. That way donors can remain anonymous if they wish.

Hope we can get this moving soon.

Have only just seen this thread. Not sure I ever dealt with John but he was popular on this site. My condolences to his friends and family.

My thoughts will be with John Holroyd tomorrow lunchtime when his beloved
Auchinleck Talbot host Heart of Midlothian in the fourth round of the Scottish F A Cup.

No doubt John would have been excited and proud that the mighty Talbot have come so far.

The match is being shown on BBC Scotland, kick off 1230.

Apologies to any Hearts fans on the forum but COME ON TALBOT.

Mon the Hearts!

This is actually third third time in 10 years we've faced them in the Cup, first time away from home. Every time we play them we get to the final! Should be a cracker, and John would have loved it no doubt.
