I work in a secondary school in Leeds, the kids that bothered to turn up got sent home at 10.50 and just got home myself. Will give me some time to read the forum and browse eBay at least! [/i]

I live 40 miles away from the college I work for, but not gone back this year due to sickness, I am hoping that Kent and East Sussex get enough snow tonight so I have another few days off Very Happy

No such luck!! Nottingham City Council are too tight to let us stay at home!! If the weather was to bad, they'd make us go down Tesco's, buy some salt, and spread it on the roads so that we could get in. Then we'd be doing the gritters out of a job, so they'd lay them off to save a few quid too!! Has anybody else's council bought smaller grains of grit to save money?

I work for a friend got to work which is only a ten minute drive he took one look at the snow from his house and told me to go home! I live in Kidderminster and weve had some heavy snow this morning. Roads have come at a stand still.

Not very safe round here - The Wirral rarely gets extreme weather but it's snowing (not badly but snowing nevertheless). The council's probably run out of grit, the Police and Ambulance services are only doing urgents... so stuck at home!

The roads round here have been regularly gritted but todays snow seems to have defeated the gritters so not risking the car and the buses are off so looking at the Forum .

The forecast for a 3 hour dump of snow over North Sheffield, has now changed to a 3 DAY dump of snow over Sheffield.

I only live 3 miles from work, but the kids have been sent home from school. Very Happy Unfortunately, Mrs Surfin works at the same school, so I'm stuck at work! Crying or Very sad

The 2 hotels near our building have had the rooms booked up by us for our incoming evening and night shifts!

Snowing heavily at the moment 8 miles East of Manchester where I reside.
Snow at least 8 " deep on my road. More forecast !! Sad Gritters out but problems with some drivers as they arent gritting their teeth hard enough!
Match at Man city v United called off because of weather ,pleased as it would have been difficult getting there as roads are really bad!
Dont have problem getting to work as retirement really pleasing in this weather. Cool
