I've enjoyed looking at these too, it's a proper little treasure trove of a collection.

The Bury badge is blank I've noticed where the crest is supposed to be, which most likely means it's a production glip or error that wasn't spotted at the time. That could make it a very rare one off, and desirable to serious collectors.

Some error badges have gone for very decent prices over the years.

I think it is a bee, most clubs in their earlier days used the town or city crest or adapted parts of those crests over the years. If you look at the crest used for the 50's appearance of Luton in the cup final they adapted I believe the town crest which has a bee in the middle of it.
It returned again in the early 70's but if you look in the middle of the current crest, there is the bee.

I'm not sure why, but although a few of the photos in this thread are showing up fine, the majority are just showing as an image file symbol (i.e. no actual picture). Is anyone else seeing these instead of the photos?
