Got my ticket for our game at Cardiff tomorrow, Leicester coaches leave at 09.30, what do Cardiff do, plan a pitch inspection for 11.30. If the match is in doubt inspect it earlier or dont the fans who plough money into these clubs count anymore.
One question to the Cardiff fans on here have you got undersoil heating, if so why not switch it on. |

I think it may be the case that if they inspect the pitch at 8am it's obviosuly still going to be cold so they will have no indication as to whether it will still be frozen at 3pm.
What if they were to call it off at 9am in the morning and then the sun comes out and it's totally fine to be played on come 3pm? |

I guess Cardiff do have under-soil heating as it's a new Stadium. However, it's not just the condition of the pitch the football club and local council have to take into consideration, it's also the car parks, roads and footpaths around the ground. |

I for one cant understand why we are having a pitch inspection !! we have undersoil heating,
Personally i wish the tv companies would put supporters first, first boro sun 1pm kick off, now newcastle away changed to a fri night with a 745 pm kick off !!!
Thankfully unlike hundreds of other cardiff fans i didnt book my flights early so havent lost out |

Things can change a lot in a few hours, if the did inspections that early I suspect about ten times the number of game would be called off.
A better idea and one which could easliy be implimented is the option to switch games in the winter. If it's freezing up north those teams can switch to play games down south where the is no danger of games being called off. It won't solve all the problems but even if only a few clubs are capable of doing it it might save those a lot of money at a vital time. |

I have read on various Cardiff City fans message boards, that they have the pipes in for the heating but they are not connected up to anything
MATT I know what you mean about TV, as we played Newcastle on a Monday night and we had 2 away games switched in a week to Monday / Friday night at Reading and QPR. |

Our game tomorrow at Blackpool has a pitch inspection at 10.00, we were leaving at 10.00 so thats delayed. Quite a few of ours have gone up for the weekend though already.
As for TV games, we've had a few moved and will also be travelling to Newcastle on a Monday night, the 18th Jan. |

Happened last season and funnily enough it was at Cardiff,I know it was the old ground but we was 5 miles outside of cardiff when they called it off.
At least you will have a postponed game programme to look for.
Also its not always about the pitch,we called a game off because the stands and outside the ground was dangerouse for fans the pitch was tip top.
We play Plymouth on a tuesday night so it will mean we will get back to Derby around 6am wednesday the fixture bloke must have been laughing. |

last season we played Arsenal away on a saturday evening in september then again in the FA cup on a tuesday night then this season we get a saturday afternoon but lo and behold we take the TV money again then reduce our allocation, then these tickets go to a over subscribed ballot, which i'm unsucessful. Meanwhile i've bought train tickets and hotel rooms. Luckily I managed to get tickets from the Arsenal but with no child reduction but afterall were only customers arent we ? |

Foxes,
I think your right about having pipes under the pitch for undersoil heating but them not being connected up. Its a typical Cardiff City thing to do and doesnt suprise me at all!!
I know its no help but its -5 at the moment apparently, rising to -1 at midday and only up to 1 at 3pm so if the pitch is frozen over now then it wont have time to thaw out - If there was a pitch inspection now im pretty sure that the ref would come to the same conclusion that he will do at 11.30.
Hopefully a definite decision will be made at 11.30 so you can atleast salvage some of your day if you have to turn around. Last time we had a pitch inspection though they ended up having a second one an hour later, and then a third one later on again!! |

Yeah - a joke when Newport is 10 miles down the road and they can get their game on despite an earlier pitch inspection.
Hopefully foxes and the rest of the travelling fans havent gone to far. |

Well at least they got it done before 1130 - scant consolation however.
Probably the club isn't too unhappy about postponements pre-Xmas Saturday - often the worst attendances weekend of the season. |

Hartlepool v Yeovil inspection at 1300 according to the BBC website. A majority of travelling fans will be virtually in the area before they know the outcome. Ridiculous.
I hope the game's on for those fans who've travelled for 6hrs covering 315 miles. |

Well just got back home to sunny Leicester, hope they dont get any severe weather in Cardiff this winter, or they might never play. |

A bit of a joke has to be said, think the club ere expecting a higher then usual attendance today, can image the many thousands of supporters who are now being dragged around town for chrimbo shopping !!
Foxes, the club have loads of programmes from todays pp so give them a tingle to order them if needed of course |

Thanks for the offer of the programme, I get mine on order for away games from Leicester City Supporters Club, they get them from away postponed games as well.
They might have got a decent crowd, think we had sold just over a 1000 tickets.
Would have been interesting if the game had been scheduled to be shown live on television and wether it would have been called of then, but never mind.
ps My missus had already gone Xmas shopping so I missed out on that treat. |
