Those gits at Paypal appear to be holding on to my money from an Ebay sale until the middle of March. Does anyone know how/why they can do this?

I have a 100pc positive feedback on ebay and more than 1000 feedback.

I should imagine the interest payments make a nice little earner if they are doing this to lots of people.
has anyone else had this happen to them?

Don't get me started on eBay.

I had three disputes that, because of family issues, I could not get a chance to resolve. Because of this and despite having feedback of over 3000+ and 7 years using of being a customer I have now had my selling account suspended indefinitely. I have lobbied them but no way round their decision

hi Dangerman, thanks for your suggestion, but I don;t think it can be that as the auction only ended today (Thursday), and the winning bidders payment went straight to "frozen".

So in a logical world there would be no chance for the buyer to leave me feedback on the same day as the sale, given it takes at least one day for delivery.

I have had no communication, yet when I look at my Ebay seller "dashboard" just now it says "above average".

hi James, I hope I don;t get snarled up in a similar nightmare.

Is it that the payment is pending? Sometimes if an echeque has been issued you can't withdraw the funds till it clears?
Probably isn't the issue but just in case....

I believe that one option available for paypal payments is that payment is not transferred to seller until after item received. This appears as an option for the buyer if they are using bank account or credit card to fund the transaction but not if they are using paypal balance. It seems to be a feature introduced last year I think.

just to let everyone know that Paypal kept £200 of my money for 6 months. They only gave it back because that was the maximum time they could withhold it! Imagine a bank doing that!

thanks for all the above thoughts, which are appreciated. just seen these reasons on one of their pages...

"There are three main reasons funds may be unavailable:
1)You’re a new seller with PayPal.
2) Customers indicate issues about your selling performance.
3) There’s a higher than average risk associated with your sales activity."

None of the above apply, been with paypal since 2003, only ever had one complaint (resolved), and only ever sell bottom to mid range spare/surplus programmes (hardly high risk).
Looks like i will have to try to call their (overseas based) phone centre tomorrow.

They did same to me 3 years ago now, they are a law unto themselves as well all very well know . I would assume that its a new member on E-Bay thats paid you, as with new members on E-Bay with little feedback that does happen
