I found some press photos from the 1962 cup final in a box of 1960s Tottenham Items but have no real idea of value. Any ideas and help would be appreciated?

It's a very nice lot.

Some are worth more than others. Blanchflower introducing the players, and holding the cup aloft - most valuable.

A goal being scored with scorer is also worth a bit.

The one of keeper failing to save a shot - not so much. Is it Brown or Blacklaw? Can't see from here.

The panoramic view also nice but average value.

Is there another one tucked under in the top left corner?

Over all it depends how many bidders etc, the usual auction scenario. Condition seems OK. What size are they and are they stamped on backs?

If you're interested in a quick sale to the UK's No 1 press photo trader, send me a PM. But if you want to sell them to the market, do it on Ebay and list them individually.- or entrust them to a good auction house.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Pete,

I was kind of hoping you would help me out. Whilst I don't collect photo's (due to large amount of capital I need for other things) I was considering selling these to raise money for more programmes if they were of significant value, a fellow collector and close friend has shown interest but I am not sure of value. If they were only worth say £5 each then I would possibly keep them and frame them.

The three larger ones have had hole punches in the side. Would it be best to guillotine them off?

pete is correct, these are very collectable

my auction had a good run of press photographs a couple of years ago

I would expect these to have an auction estimate of 20 pounds each in my sale

do not trim them, is my advice!

let the collector who buys them decide

regards

robert

I absolutely agree with this.

Generally prices for original press photos tend to be slightly less condition-sensitive than other collectibles but, personally, I am always discouraged from buying trimmed photos.

I don't mind so much editorial markings on photos.

In terms of eBay. The market may have matured in recent years but when I last sold some football press photos (run of the mill 1930s English league games) on eBay back in 2011 or 2012, the interest was very limited and the sales prices were very low as I'd started the bidding at £0.99 per item.

Therefore, if selling on eBay, it may be best to list at a price closer to what they are worth - that's never an easy thing with football press photos as they differ from programmes insofar as they are much harder to benchmark. However, I certainly wouldn't let any of them go individually for less than £10.
