The absolute upper limit you could justify spending on one programme.

Me personally, I have not paid more than a fiver for a programme yet as I only collect post 1995.

However I would probably pay up to £20 if I really, really needed an item but thats it.

I think I paid £40 at auction for the '59 Charity Shield, but that was a moment of madness!! Not that I now regret buying it, or that I paid over the odds (which I don't think I did?!), but like you, I had previously been snapping up programmes at 50p-£1 each, so that was quite a big jump!

Think the most I've paid for an individual programme has been £12.

Could probably justify £20 for the right ones.

I would quite happily go to £2,000 for a 1925 fa cup final programme or a 1927 charity shield programme

Not sure of my highest spend altogether but recently £25 for a copy of the Peace Cup programme in Spain featuring Malaga, Villa, Juventus etc.

The first couple I saw on eBay went for over £60 and then over £50 as they were only available to VIP and press.

£500 for a job lot including the pompey v man utd 46/47.
£300 for Flootlight match s/s v brentford.

The list goes on & on but thats the problem of collecting all league & cup back to 46/47.

Only 1 league Plus 8 postponed programme (out of 41) to go.

I think the most i have ever spent was 15 pounds on Leyton Orient v Manchester United 62/63, from what i can remember. I could have got it a lot cheaper, though it was in very good condition, so money well spent.

As for the most i would ever spend, it's hard to say without actually seeing the item.. if something really caught my eye then only God knows what the limit would be!

The most spent so far £560 for a 1928 final, I am sure that will be beaten one day.................. Has anybody got any 1934/35 season Peterborough programmes?

The most that I have paid is £175. I won't name the programme in case everybody laughs at me Laughing

I have made failed bids over £200 for items on ebay so to complete the collection I expect that I need to go higher for rarer items.
One of my wants sold for about £300 recently.
I think that I have resigned myself to never completing it. Crying or Very sad

Most I have paid so far is £78 for a 1906 Sheff W v Rovers in the FAC.
Did however put a max bid of £300 in for it. Was very happy to come home and find it didn't go that high as god knows how I would have managed to find that much.

£555 & £400 for 2 auction lots; £600 & £300 for 2 collections, and as for individual programmes...

£500 for Burnley v. Glossop 1912/13 (Burnley's 1st ever official programme) and the piece de resistance...

£999.99 for the 1912/13 FA Cup Semi Final Burnley v. Sunderland

Would quite willingly break that record for the 1914 FA Cup Final or a complete set of Burnley Reserves Home & Away 1960-1986!!

Have paid 130 quid for a Leeds european cup final that went on eBay for over 200 so happy with that.

Paid 150 quid for a mint copy of the 1966 world cup final programme but have since sold that for a profit.

In terms of league games I have around 80 quid on 2 separate issues, one of which I was more than happy to pay but the other in hindsight could have been cheaper!!

Have also gained several different issues for around 50 quid too....

Most I've paid is £30 for the London v Frankfurt Fairs Cup tie at Wembley in 1955. Don't know if I overpaid, probably did but it's a lovely copy in very good condition.

Paid £25 for the Sheffield FC v Queens Park centenary game in 1957. Again no idea if that was too much.

Have just broke my previous highest amount. Leeds v Middlesbrough 34/35, my first Leeds home pre-war!!

It Cost more than double my previous highest for a Leeds issue, but was more than happy with it. Not sure if this one will be broken anytime soon... At least not double anyway!!

Have broken into the £100-150 bracket a couple of times.

I saw this on Ebay and commented at the time it was cheap, you will never lose money buying Leeds pre war at that price.

I offered £890 for a 1905 Sunderland home, but didn't win. I paid £280 for 1930/31 Sunderland v Arsenal. As this is Arsenal's first Championship i think it was a bargin. I'm trying to cut back now, but i don't worry if the right programmes comes along. If the worst comes to the worst , i'll just have to sell some , and i know i'll get a good price for them. As someone else said before. You put £100 in a pension and next year it's worth £50. Programmes are a good investment i feel.

i think they are a good investment also, i get people mocking me for spending so much on them in early life (im 31)....by the time im retired theres definately not going to be a pension system via the government ..think ill be the one laughing then when i sell my collection...and there'll be left with nowt
