As John (Auchinleckian) rightly states in a recent post ‘there’s a wealth of knowledge out there just waiting to be tapped into’. It would be great if an archive/database could be set up for each club which covers certain criteria and questions.

In John’s case he asked the question ‘What is your clubs rare season of issue?’ In my case I would be asking for your clubs list of postponed games where a programme has been issued for both the postponed game and the rearranged game.

I'm sure that there are a lot of collectors out there who think they have full season collections but are unaware that programmes have been issued for a postponed game. I’m also sure that some of us may even be unaware that a game was originally postponed.

I thought I had full season collections but info kindly provided by Pompeypete has proved that I haven’t. The wants list increases. Sad

Any info that will add to my list of programmes issued for postponed Middlesbrough games will be greatly appreciated.

As per a previous post, I am currently building this archive and I look forward to ALL of your input once tested and live, the admin has been tested now and work has begun on the frontend.

What I personally would find helpful is why games were abandoned for whatever reason, not so much interested in the postponed details as that is quite widespread, but abandonments are quite rare.

Also games that took place but the actual stats and result of the match didn't matter, and for whatever reason the game was replayed and a new programme was issued.

RockyBoro

Sorry, I should have said yes, I do know it exists. Not seen very often.

BTW that was a league game put back as the Bristol Rovers game (FAC) was delayed. So it was scheduled the next week and then postponed, as you said, until April.

WRT Leicester et al - I am only really familiar with Everton aways in 1960s. League games as follows that I have:

1964-65 W B A 28th Dec 64
1965-66 Leicester Waterlogged pitch (Lge) PP - played 2 Apr 66
1969-70 Sunderland Rare - February I think
1969-70 Tottenham Rare PP
1969-70 Tottenham Rare - Abandoned Waterlogged Pitch

Those that are much harder to locate
1961-62 Arsenal Feb 27th 62 very very rare, imperfect copy sold recently for £480 so obviously exists in some form
1961-62 Bolton W not listed PP (played 4 Apr 62)
1962-63 Liverpool Winter Freeze PP 9/2/63 (played 8/4/63)
1968-69 Leicester 15th Feb 69

List of other Abandoned games involving Liecester City, these are additonal to the one mentioned by Rocky-boro

Leic v Bristol C - F A Cup - 28/01/61 (Waterlogged pitch) replayed 30/01/61
Nott'm Forest v Leic - Lge - 09/12/67 (Icy pitch) replayed 19/03/68
Leic v Soton - Lge - 15/10/83 (Waterlogged pitch) replayed 30/11/83
Reading v Leic - Lge - 01/01/03 (Waterloggd pitch) replayed 28/01/03
Nottm Forest v Leic - Coca-Cola Cup - 28/08/07 (Clarke of Leic taken ill at half-time) replayed 18/09/07.

Burton Alb v Leic - F A Cup - This game was originally played on 05/01/85 at the Baseball Grd with Leic winning 6-1, it was ordered to be re-played at Highfield Rd behind closed doors on 16/01/85 after crowd trouble marred the original game.

Progs exist for all abandoned games & replayed games, but the Bristol City replayed game consists of a single sheet.
The Burton game at Highfield Rd a single sheet does exist but I'm not sure if this was produced by either club or some chancer typing one out and photocopying them.

Just a quick couple of notes from my collection. This is in no way definitive!!

LIVERPOOL
Liverpool v Cologne 64-5 European Cup (3-3-65 abandoned due to fog, separate programme for refixed game 17-3-65)
Liverpool v Everton 96-7 (League match was postponed- a 4 page wrap-around supplement was included for the for re-arranged match)
Liverpool v Wolves 78-9 Separate programmes for postponed league game in Dec and refixed game in March
Liverpool v Aston Villa 78-9 I have a programme which I have marked as “(Jan)” which presumably means that game was refixed!
Wasn't the winter of 78-9 particularly bad? There are likely to be numerous postponements. Likewise 62-3.

FRIENDLY
Shamrock Rovers v Sunderland 09-08-2008 Match never played due to waterlogged pitch- a 2in1 programme for this match and the league game v Finn Harps exists

IRISH
Monaghan United v EMFA 85-6 (First season in the league for boh clubs). I have programmes for league games dated February and March
Shamrock Rovers v Waterford 2007 May (abandoned due to dangerous floodlights! Separate programme for refixed match in November)
Shelbourne v Bohemians 2003 November (essentially a league title decider- this was the programme for the original postponed match in October with a 4 page wrap-around)

OTHER
Barnsley v Sheff Utd 79-80 (Played March- programme for postponed February match with 4pg wraparound)

For interest pompey's only abandoned match was
home v Aston Villa 15/1/1955.

Pompey were 2-1 down with only 11 minutes left.

Thick fog descended in the 2nd half, the referee had no alternative but to end the match.

The re played match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Seen two games mentioned on this thread that I was on the way to when cancelled

- Portsmouth - it was chucking it down and we were on the outskirts of the City. I have never cheered so much as we were fearing that we were going to be like drowned rats in their away end! Drove to Portsmouth and back for a sandwich!!

- Burnley - was just after the Hatfield train crash so there were speed restrictions in place. I got home at 11.15pm having spend over 14 hours on a train. I could not get to the re-arranged game so it cost me my "complete" season that year! Crying or Very sad

I went to this game.. Cold cold cold. Peter Reid (then with Bolton) broke kneebone (I think?) - abandoned at h-t 1-1. Almost the entire day's football was postponed that day bar about 3 games... Driving back from Burnden Park took about 4 hours to Liverpool.

There are far too many Carlisle postponements to list - I'll send in my spreadsheet if a database is developed though.
