I am still trying to understand how people get permission from the wife to spend so much money on a ticket.
Also i can't understand how something this modern can be worth this much.

Also there is another on with no bids listed at 99p!

Admittedly with ten days left!

Just like programmes , if there is a limited attendance for a match ( due to various reasons ) then there will not be that many programmes or as in this case tickets available, so unlike the Spurs programmes from the 50's where there are thousands upon thousands floating around in this case I suspect it will have been a small attendance, therefore not many tickets especially survive Wave

"Worth" is an incredibly loose term really, it means little and doesn't always enter the equation where collectibles are concerned.
Just look at the daft millions certain old paintings fetch.

Something is only ever really 'worth' what two (or more) nutters are willing to pay for it at the time, and as we all know and will have experienced at one time or other, it's easy to get carried away and lose your rationale when competing against another like-minded soul.

That's when 'worth' flies out of the window and it comes down to how badly you wish to acquire something.

Three short words spring to mind here ... Peter Bonetti Photo!

Very Happy

That's a very good point LittleWiggy. 'Worth' is completely subjective.
I did notice there were/are only two bidders in the chase for these tickets.
Back in 1996 I was secretary of Prestatyn Town FC and we played a Man Utd XI as part of our town council's centenary celebrations.
To get some advance revenue in we produced a quantity of tickets upfront which sold out very quickly. I know exactly how many as I ordered them and liaised with the printer re delivery etc.
In terms of availability 20 years on, these tickets should be among the rarest MUFC friendlies out there because, as I say, I know how many were printed and how many we swept up and binned after the match!
I might bung a couple on ebay as a 'test case' and see what happens.
In terms of 'worth' though it's anyone's guess - they might fetch 99p, a fiver, a tenner or they might fetch silly money like the Poole ones, but only if two like-minded collectors go head-to-head and the red mist of desire clouds their rationale.
Collectors eh> Confused

"Subjective" yes, that's the word I was searching for whilst bandying around dozens of others! lol

Thanks Mark.

'Worth' also keeps changing.
In my short time of collecting (since 2002) supply has changed enormously with most Post-War Millwall standard issues having dropped in 'price' (supply and demand).
This has, however shifted 'worth' onto tickets (as above but not to the same high price) with a couple of collectors going for them and the supply being short, most being thrown away at the match (just like I used to do!).

Sadly the issue about monetary "worth" is how many people want the item. If there are 2 or 3 active collectors then the price for a prog/ticket will be high for the first couple of examples coming up for auction. By the time the 4th or 5th comes up those willing to pay good money will have their copy and the item becomes a lot cheaper. Only if there are many collectors with money interested will the price stay high.

Thus as often said in the past Man Utd will always attract good prices as always many collectors and a decent proportion willing to pay decent prices. But other clubs tend to have only a few collectors willing to get it at any price so a bit of patience yields a lot of benefit in getting it cheaper.
