Cheer up Wullie, it's the weekend now. I'm off to my boot sale Sunday morning after finishing my night shift at 8am and going straight there. There's always a chance for a bargain, I've had an Arsenal friendly prog for £3.00 and found out later it's worth £100, plus many other smaller gains. Most weeks there's little or nothing, but it's when you do find a rare one it's well worth it.
Keep you eyes out for the Man Utd treble season progs too as they are quite common.
Hope everyone posts their finds on here Sunday evening.
Good luck lads.

I did the same as Ahburton this morning......finished nights at 8am and called at my local boot on the way home.

One lad had some Sheff Utd homes from the 60's. One in particular was a bog standard home game against Man Utd from around 1963. He had it priced up at £15! Shocked

I just laughed and walked off......didn't by owt!

Did it again!
Found a box full of rugby books, hoping to find anything football related, when I came across a menu.
Opened it up and found it was signed inside by Chris O'dell (no idea who he is?) and George Best.
Menu doesn't state what the occaision was, but have checked the signature with others online and it's genuine.
Cost to me....£1.
Also got Chelsea shirt 1998 for 50p and 2007 uefa final for £1.
Wolves near complete season programmes 68/68 + Man Utd 75/76 for £14.
I love these boots sales!

Picked up 8 1968-72 Boston single sheet friendlies agaist league clubs yesterday, 25p each and 14 1st season Boston FC homes from 64/65 for 25p each as well. Same guy had a load of 60's cup finals but had looked on e-bay so I gave them a wide berth.

I've just come back from my local car boot sale - picked up a Burnley programme from 1972 - nothing special in the programme itself, but it contained a team sheet (team sheets from that era are rare for Burnley), and it's signed by Malcolm McDonald from Newcastle on the back - 10p!

I was in London last week and called in on the Apple Market at Covent Garden last Monday. It's an antiques/collectables market and there was a guy with a box of programmes. I started to rummage through the rubbish on the top - 80s Spurs homes and the like and had just discovered a few early/mid 60s Brentford homes when the guy appeared at my shoulder to say 'they're a fiver each mate and if you want a few I'll see what I can do.' I offered him 20 quid for the lot and wasn't too disappointed when he indignantly declined as I'd got tickets for Oliver and didn't really want to carry them into the theatre! Suddenly everyone's a dealer!

I saw him last year, he had about 20 late 60's Bentford ,QPR and Leeds and asked a fiver each......I politely declined.

However, we went to Portobelo Row market the next day and I picked up about 20 1960's Arsenal for a fiver and 4 heavyweight Subbuteo teams for the same.

They tell me there's a cracking car boot in the Stevenage/Hatfield area every week where football stuff often crops up, I was talking to a guy at a local fair this year who's moved up here and he said programmes and the like turn up most weeks.Probably nothing too exceptional but always worth a look.

Another good week, got a Man Utd away shirt from 1994/95 season, BRAND NEW WITH TAGS!!!! for £2.00.
Got worried when the guy selling it asked if it was for me as it is an XXL and I'm quite slim, thought for a moment he was going to ask me to try it on!
I think he saw my fear.

Picked up a dozen assorted Forest 58/9 home and aways today, the homes were all Combination ones except for the cup replay v Tooting, there was the Tooting away game in there too, a 59/60 at Leeds inc ticket, a couple of 57/8 Notts Co homes and a couple of 58/9 Spurs homes. Condition of all is 1st class. I left the 58/9 Forest 1st team homes as they are common......15 programmes in total, 13 quid.......

Don't give up there footysales.
Charity shops aren't the best chance as they have a team who value anything being donated, so the likelyhood of picking anything up there is slim.
But the bootsales are fantastic, in the past year I've had so many great deals, ones that you would have to fight over on eBay. The worrying thing is that most of the items I buy at bootsales, would only have been thrown away if they had not sold.
The problem is now the weather, cold, wet and windy, but I still go if it's not raining. My wife has a website selling old dolls and toys so it needs restocking.
Keep posting all your finds, and good luck.
