I went to the Jersey Island games in 1997, saw every game in the tournament, 4 per day on some days - sometimes just 45 mins between games, so a bit of a race around the island from ground to ground! Only one programme for the whole week, but a brilliant holiday and a decent tournament. Will never forget it!

There's a bid just been launched to bring the games to Anglesey soon - would be great if all you guys could give it your support. It's a huge event for us in Gogledd Cymru as it's about the only time anyone ever hears about Anglesey on a national basis. And the footy team usually do pretty well! I'm sure swnymor and the other Welsh forum members will tell you what a big deal it is to us Gogs.

Yep Anglesey / Ynys Mon are consistently amongst the best 3 or 4 in those games.

Groundhoppers will come, but largely it'll be small crowds of 50-100 apart from when the home team plays (Jersey v Guernsey was 2000+)

yes - it would be a massive event for Anglesey if we were to get it. I was fortunate enough to have played in the first one in 1985 in the Isle of Man when we won silver medal for under 15s football and the whole event was brilliant. It is a great social event also. There are some decent enough small grounds now for football - Holyhead, Llangefni and Cemaes Bay spring to mind straight away.

Unfortunately though I don't think the other facilities for stuff such as swimming will be good enough to win the vote.
