Just sold on e bay for £256,.

As an experienced Newport collector, I am obviously still learning about value. Not recognised as the rarest post war home, but amazing price really bought by someone with a feedback of 5.

In the final analysis, who bids highest wins, so no complaint about being outbid, but does make you wonder how good your judgement is about likely sale prices regardless of whether you can afford to bid high or not.

Cheers,

John

One of the reasons I stopped collecting programmes a decade ago.

Strange that the underbidder put two quick bids in of £75 then £251! And then the winner looks likely to have sniped a second later. I know early Newport go for good money, whereas I paid good money for Cardiff 40s a few years ago only see the prices tumble. Can now pick up for £5, I bought a 46/7 Cardiff away at Aldershot the other day for £7.53, a few years ago it would chav been £25+

Tony,

I bid the £75, and then went to £251, never thinking it would go anywhere near that!

I only need 7 Newport post war homes, so can bid above value really to try to secure.

Didn't get it right this time!.

Same here chum.
Too pricey for my pocket I'm afraid.

If my circs were different then it might be a different story, but they're not and it isn't.

I can fully understand Slugger's frustration though, he has a superb collection and is pretty darned close to completing it.

He's helped me out no end over the years too.
