I've always put on my auctions that I ship to UK only.

Despite this an item I listed has just finished and has been won by a bidder in Malta. Am I within my rights to cancel his winning bid and sell it to the highest bidder from the UK?

I know there is a way of blocking individual countries but is there a way of blocking non UK bidders from bidding on or seeing my auctions?

what is your problem with this?, it is not as if YOU are paying the postal charges?.

Surely there is little difference in sending to Accrington or Argentina-so you have to fill in a form at the PO for proof of postage or whatever it is that you need to do.

I really cannot see the issue in not wanting to send outside of the UK.

It does not affect me as i do not sell to anyone home or abroad but i always wondered why some people just refuse too.

Especially as you are cutting down your options to find a buyer.

Said my few words now, no longer interested now......Ta Ra

So far I have sold to every continent on earth without a single problem including Brazil, Israel and pillocks in the USA that don't know what a GB Pound is. I would go for it.
But of course it's up to you.

This was discussed on another thread recently, and as I said there, thank goodness for those willing to sell to bidders outside the UK otherwise my collection would be screwed.

I really don't understand the reluctance to sell internationally. The buyer pays the postage. Being open to international buyers expands the market for the item you're trying to sell.

I once asked a seller on ebay if he could make an exception for me to bid on that lot I was interested in. The seller refused to send overseas no matter what. I then figured I could use my UK forwarding address. I logged into another ebay account where I had a UK address, and made a bid on the lot. Soon after the seller cancelled my bid and it got reported to ebay, who then banned my second account asking me for ID papers...

I hate it when people won't send overseas, in most cases I would even pay extra for them to do so. Confused

A recent experience in reverse. There was a programme on German ebay I wanted, the seller said he did not sell to the UK. I sent a message asking if he would make an exception given my feedback, they didn't reply.

Programme went for £35, I would have paid upto £150. Refusing to sell abroad limits your market. Never had any problems personally.

In the past I also asked to make exceptions but 9 out of 10 always with the same answer.
Since a few years I have also a 2nd ebay-ID linked with a UK based address and that sorted my problems.
I pick my stuff up once in the 2/3 months I come over.

Dangerman is correct. These three postal services are notoriously bad
