They seem to be getting in on the act of selling programmes.

Ours had the FA Cup last year and currently have the last England game Vs Ukraine and this years champs league final.

Just a word of warning though the shop brought ones have a bar code on the cover (the champs league one is sadly on the front), whether this will make a diff in the long run to values I dont know. Maybe other more experianced collectors may have a view??

I'm pretty sure that W.H.Smiths used to print 'pirate' programmes in the 50's / 60's.

I could be wrong on this one, but I'm pretty certain I've seen a couple before.

I got all my 70's and early 80's FA Cup Final programmes from WHSmith.

I don't bother with them now purely because of the size of the print run. Last years FA Cup Final programme was selling on the out of date magazine stall on the market for £1 a month after the final, so I bought all 8 and flogged 7 on e-bay and kept one for myself!!!!

Thanks for this post - I bought mine (without an extra bar code) from WH Smiths this morning. It was £9 an has over 100 pages.

Hopefully they will be getting in the FA Cup Final programmes too. I think Morrisons did a few years ago so might try there too.

Did your not have a bar code on the front cover?

If so Ill have to try another branch.

Went into the Liverpool ONE branch on my dinner hour.

They have the so called 'official' Champions League Final programmes for sale but they have a bar code to the top left hand corner on them.

The programme is in A4 size and is silver in colour.

I didn't buy it as I don't like the fact it has the barcode on the front as I think it makes it look like a pirate programme.

I may even wait until a few weeks after the final when the prices go down.

Is there any differences between the one sold in WH Smiths and the one sold through official sources apart from the barcode?

It has a bar code on the front but this is printed on the actual programme and not one that WH Smiths would have added.

That's the one I saw in WH Smiths today but it has a 'printed barcode' in the top left hand corner.

It also doesnt have the red writing that goes vertically doen the top left hand side either.

I'll upload a picture later.

would it be right in saying then there are two programmes for this game in cerculation?

the WHS issue has: a barcode in top left, price in £ and euro, and inside the programme it has printed by haymarket on behalf of uefa

offical issue sold at ground:no barcode in top left but writing going verticaly down the top left side, price in euro only, and inside the programme it says printed in swizland.

would i be right in say that WHS a UK leading mag company has miss lead its product in being the 'offical issue'?when it is just a UK edition and not the actual copy sold at the ground?

i think someone should comfrount WHS, show them this post and get them to change the product on sale to the 'UK EDITION' as it is a miss leading product!

anyone Metioned this to john lister of programme monthly, it may be worth an article?

does this mean that the FACF will have a Barcode put on by WHS and therefore sort of put WHS in a 'pirate programme' buisesness again as it was in the 50s-60s?

whats anyone elses veiw on this post?

Smiths printed a programme for the Burnley v. Liverpool FA Cup Final in 1914! I was offered it for £100 in 1981 and couldn't afford it! Regrets, I've had a few.... Crying or Very sad

I've seen the 1914 Final for sale 3 times - the one I couldn't afford, once on Sports offers about 15 years ago and once at Graham Budd auctions last year - that was the Royal Box issue, leather bound and gold tassel etc. Went for 6 grand I seem to remember.
