I'm very keen to boost my card collection with Reading postcards, particularly individual players and would be grateful for any leads.

I was contacted by a bloke in a scenario you only dream of - he had inherited his grandmother's Edwardian postcard collection which included a few Reading FC cards. There were three individual player cards dating from 1906 I'd never even seen before, including the one here, and a deal was done. It just shows there are still gems out there waiting to be discovered!

Thanks! I was on the verge of shutting down my website a few weeks ago because of problems I was having with the provider, but thought I'd leave it because I've had some decent contacts over the years — and I'm so glad I did!

Nice find.

Don't shut down the website Chris!

It's a useful tool for many researchers, including myself.

I've used wordpress for my websites and they work quite well. Updating one, the memorabilia site, plan to update the other (Hendren) and starting a new one, Players from 1889/1920 of Brentford FC. All using Wordpress Free Blog.

Any Brentford postcards in the lot??! Wink

I agree, really enjoyed the video slideshow of the 1913 Italian tour.

What did you use to produce it if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks Paul. I almost didn't renew in February but couldn't bring myself to let it go after ten years!
The collection of postcards the guy had was superb, mainly general Berkshire but there were a couple of Fulham football cards. Had they been Brentford I would certainly have put you in contact!

Thanks Jamesy, much appreciated! The programme I used is called Lightworks which you can download for free, then I just looked up tutorials and experimented. First of all I made my own titles and put together a basic slideshow. I found a video overlay which gives an old movie effect, put that on top and Lightworks has a 'camera shake' effect which works very well. Finally I added what I thought was suitable music and I was very pleased with the result!
