Is it me, or has this thread visibly shrunk since yesterday afternoon?

If I didn't dream it why has a good percentage of it now disappeared?

Nor do i. His prices are ridiculous, it's sad but unfortunately you are always going to get some people who try to take advantage of people who might not no what the items are worth and think they are getting a bargin.

To a point you are correct, but isn't it up to the buyer to do his homework first? There are plenty of internet sites , including this one, where information can be found. Most people nowadays would search the net before they buy a car , computer or most things so i can't see why people don't check out programme values.

I suppose it’s always a case of buyer beware, particularly when it comes to collectables. I avoid dealers who price their programmes based on fantasy (most of us do), but if anyone is going to part with £60 for a programme you’d like to think they’d have a bit of an idea about what they’re buying. That’s not to excuse the fact that there are lowlifes out there who will look to trap the unwary.

I wouldn’t go out and chuck £60 at an Art Deco vase without doing some research because I haven’t got a frigging clue about vases and have no idea if it’s a bargain or a rip-off (no, I don’t collect them……)

Look at it another way, if discovering a horde of pre-war programmes from your club at a car boot sale for £1 each, would you inform the seller that he was under valuing them a wee bit and instead offer him £50 each? You know the seller is a mug for not researching what he’s selling, but who cares, kerching!

These crazy priced items rarely sell.

Looking back this seller has mainly only sold stuff at what seems to be reasonable prices.

No idea if this one is really rare and worth £25 but it is not in the realms of guys asking £200 for 70's cup finals. I'd imagine most programmes from the period are worth cover price or less however there are rare ones too.

I do think current season are getting harder to source. Dealers don't seem to be getting job lots of unsold programmes. People aren't buying extras anymore. A lot of freebies for journalists and guys who work for printers do get to stick some on ebay
