That are not part of your normal collection?

In the last few weeks i've strayed from Rangers and started buying Irish League games from the 60s and Northern Ireland programmes.

Don't know why, and not sure how long it will last but i've started haha.

How about you guys?

I started to buy every different NON league Club I could find in the late 60's early 70's , but with the advent of PC's there just became TOO Many ..... both to buy and to store ....so I gave up ....... I do have some Irish from the late 50's ( whatever happend to EVERGREEN FC ) ......and they are good stuff .......very similar to the English and Scots Non Leage of that era .....plenty of reading material ....and not too many adverts .... and the FACE value cost would seem to be reasonable ( unlike Now ..... for ALL Football Programmes , as its all about making MONEY now )

I randomly buy programmes often if i know the price is below what an item normally goes for. Then i put in my box of miscellaneous to be sold later or used in swop deals.

I often buy lots from auctions just for resale. Bit of a risk and you can end up with some crap but also the odd gem. I paid £75 for a lot recently that had a couple of 60s single sheet Exeter programmes in. Just sold one for £41 and the other for £36!

They became Cork Celtic in 1959 and finally coollapsed in 1979

The were in the league as Evergreen between the 1951/52 and 58/59 seasons

I have done this a few times in the past but find myself just selling them again in a few weeks so I am really strict with what I buy now. I am sure it saves me £££ in the long run.

I used to buy anything and everything!! Now the mrs has moved in, I have to be more considerate to her, so I'm offloading all my non Forest stuff, and trying to stop buying it, but its f*cking difficult!!

I must have in my collection over 2,000 programmes with a good 50% non Sheffield United based programmes. With the exception of neutral fixtures I have attended I plan on selling the ones I don't want one day.

I've alot of non-league ones I could do with getting rid of now really.

I randomly buy stuff on impulse all the time. I find it's a good way to start new strands or themes within my collection. For example a I recently bought a job lot of Sheff Utd programmes that included a few recent issues. One was the xmas issue from last season I think it was, covered in glitter and looked very sparkly & festive indeed. So that got me onto buying up copies of Sheff Utd xmas programmes. In the sixties they didn't really make much of an effort. The xmas issue was just a regular cover with green text & some holly printed across the front. It's just interesting to see how the designs change year on year.

Other collecting tangents I've gone off on include centenary programmes, first floodlit fixtures & England games featuring Sheff Utd players (not many of them needed to complete the set! lol)

Over the last couple of years Sheffield United have produced glitery programmes for the festive period. In 2008/09 they did the same (vs. Charlton I think) though they didn't this season nor prior to 08/09.

During the Millennium season (1999/00) the Blades produced every home league fixture (+ 1 FA Cup) in a gold cover with exception to League Cup games which were white. Also the last game game in 1999 (vs. Fulham) was silver rather than gold.

At the start of the 1992/93 season - on the opening day against Manchester United the front cover featured a xmas theme. Yes, in August - reason being that Dave Bassett realised that we only seemed to pick our season up around xmas time so he brought the celebrations forward to August. We beat the Reds 2-1!

Maybe sharrowblade can help out but other than those I can't really remember any special editions to look out for.

That season with the gold cover!!! - took me ages to get a Norwich one in decent condition as the cover really shows up any marks or folds!

I think I have a few spares from that season, though I couldn't tell you who they are against!

Hi bladesmad, I don't think United have done anything else over the festive period out of the ordinary, even when they used to play christmas day.

Here's a old favourite from Christmas 1970
