Admira toured the UK and Ireland in April/May 1954 and I have the programme from the game they played against Hearts. I note the programme lists other games in Scotland against Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, Stirling Albion, St.Johnstone and an Elgin/Rothes select.

I also belive they played Bohemians in Dublin and Luton Town, were there anymore games and more importantly, programmes?

Probably not part of the same tour, I think the Luton game was Nov 53 so that wasnt part of the same tour either.

They played Leeds in Nov 54. There is certainly a programme. Will confirm later this evening or tomorrow the actual dates.

They also played Waterford in Ireland as well as Bohemians. It is a much harder programme to obtain. It is a 4 page issue.

Stirling was a definate issue and I think the Highland select game issued as well.
Not at all sure about Dons, Killie and St Johnstone but i would think the last 2 were non issues.

The Leeds game was played on the 15th November 1954, the programme is a four page issue (from the top of my head)

There appears to have been three seperate visits, one at the tail end of 1953, one around April/May in 1954 (possibly just Scotland and Ireland) and one at the end of 1954 (possibly just England).

Palace had home friendlies against 2 Austrian sides back then

23.2.54 FC Vienna

26.10.54 WAS Vienna

I have the programmes for both but what I don't know is if either of those was Admira Vienna as per the ancient thread.

I haven't got access to my storage cupboard at the moment so can't get them out to check.

Thanks Pete, I don't think either are Admira, could be wrong.

I have this match ticket for Newport County v Wien (Austria Vienna) from April 1954 - but the game was never played so no programme was produced ...

10/11/54 Newcastle Utd 3-1 Admira Wein in front of a 18,834 crowd. Broadis, Mitchell and Milburn scored for Newcastle.

Some stats have it down as v Admira Vienna.

Interesting, as you see from above, they ended up playing Hearts that day!

Thanks to everyone for the continued info.

For what it's worth, here are the 2 Palace programmes v the Vienna clubs. As you can see, no expense was spared on these lavish productions.

CP v FC Vienna 23.2.54

CP v WAS Vienna 26.10.54

Thanks Pete, there was an FC Wien who no longer exist, I think that may be the first one.

WAS Vienna could be SC Wacker who merged with Admira in 1971 to form the current club.
