Well played Paul, that's a great achievement.

I'd imagine you were a bit impressed with our pitch.
Billiard tables are for wimps, a turnip field is the new black these days mate.

Very Happy

It was a childhood ambition of mine to do the 92, and by the end of the 1980s I'd done 86 of the 92.
Mostly all with either the County or Liverpool too.

Then the old County went under which left me disillusioned for a bit, clubs started building new grounds, and I kind of lost interest in it.
I don't really have any desire to visit these identikit concrete bowls that replaced our glorious football grounds.
Hence I need loads again now, and most that still remain have changed beyond all recognition.

Really glad I saw the bulk of them before all that history was demolished forever though, and pleased I stood on all those famous terraces.

Like many people I started by just going to games, my team Pompey and anything interesting that I happened to be in the vicinity of. After a few years and by living in different parts of the country I found I had accumulated quite a few. So I kept half an eye on any grounds that I had not been to. After getting to over 60 I found the number going down rather than up, due to new grounds and 2 up from the national league.
So I came up with a revolutionary idea, go and watch football! Now if I have a Saturday free and the funds I pick a match to go to. Pompey if in the area, my local team Northampton if playing a top team and the large number of non-league teams within range.
last year I came across newly formed Hereford FC playing at Loughborough Univ. Saw them at non-league finals day and went down there this season.
Last Saturday I saw Irchester v Lutterworth, 5-4!
So watch the football meet the people visit towns that you would never normally go to and don't just tick teams off a list.
Happy watching.

That's all the Premiership grounds completed watching Leicester City. Yesterday went to the Olympic Stadium what a soulless place it is.
It was a very odd experience.

It felt like it would be a really nice day out for a tourist who had never been to a football match, and would never go to one again. The signage was good, the stewards outside were friendly and got everyone back to public transport safely. There was a nice shopping centre nearby with two huge food courts with plenty of choice. No Leicester fans allowed in the pubs, although as I don't wear colours no problem. There was a big screen and the announcer spoke clearly. It was easy to get a snack.

It just doesn't work for football. I felt like I needed to catch a shuttle bus from my seat to get close enough to the pitch to see, the sound drifted pointlessly away so even those groups of West Ham fans who had a go at singing were doing so for their benefit rather than ours. The white seats show up horribly when people walk out after an hour. Half an hour before kick off and the loos were a disgrace.
I got the impression I was at a music gig not a football match. Still I suppose it was only £30 to get in (Less than you pay for a music gig)
The old Boleyn Ground used to be an intimidating place at for awy teams but this has now all been lost and you can see why West Ham struggle at home.

Roll on April for a trip to the Vicente Calderon stadium in Madrid for our Champions League tie, hope the Spanish police are Friendlier than Seville.
