Post subject: Dealers with electronic catalogues

Following on from the thread "Ebay vs Dealers" id like to pick up on the below comment;

i think the biggest thing that ebay has done is drive down prices and i think dealers can survive but only if they open their eyes to the competition. Also if we want to attract younger collectors we have to be up with the 21st century so although I have no issue with dealers not selling on ebay I do expect their catalogue to be available electronically.

I still do like looking through offers lists and regularly buy items from Sports Programmes. Beyond that there are two antiquated practices which put me off others. One is the lack of an email option as i really can't be bothered with posting written offers anymore. The other is that offers lists only available as paper option. I don't want to pay money, wait a week to receive a catalogue and offers list just to find there is nothing of interest.

I said the same last week, the amount of dealers that do not have an electronic format of their catalogue is astounding.

It was an idea of mine about 9 months or so ago to contact all known dealers who issue an electronic catalogue and ask for their permission to upload them here so that their catalogues were available with ease to our 700+ members without the need for each member to contact the dealer individually.

Like a lot of my ideas i never acted upon this but id like to now!

Therefore, could you please forward me the email addresses of dealers who you know issue an electronic catalogue and ill see if i can get something going.

Cheers
Craig

Craig.
I would think they would have to be mad to say no.
After all it will open up a possible 700 new customers for them to sell to.
Jamie.

I don't think this is really an issue for dealers with websites... seems a bit pointless to upload (and to have to update) catalogs here for the likes of Almondvale who have a perfectly good site of their own!
