Looking at the photo might be 1930s or 40s, so probably not any of these. Some players named Jones that were on the books at Leeds that might fit if it’s a 1950s player are: David Jones born 1937, Dilwyn Jones born 1937, Alfred Jones born 1937 in Liverpool, Gwyn Jones born Newport 1932. Of these players only Fred seemed to have made a number of appearances. It’s a tough one , looking at some of those squad photos from years ago, they looked like they had about 70 players on their books!

Thanks, I would say that's an early-mid 30's shot, ruling out any of the players Flaming Pie listed, as he suspected. The first Albert Wilkes of 45 Legge Street died in 1936, his son (also Albert) carried on the agency thereafter.

I have a 1935 Football Who's Who and though there are many Jones listed in there, none of them mentions Leeds as their club. But had he signed for Leeds in 1935 or 1936, he could be one of the players in this book who had just transferred.

If someone has a Leeds Complete Record (eg Breedon) that might help.

The only Jones’s with first team appearances listed in the complete record book are Alf Jones from 1960-61 and Mick Jones who it obviously isn’t. There were 3 Jones who played in Ww2-Bill (W H) 2apps, Eric Jones (1app) and Syd Jones (14 apps).
As we know clubs employed lots of players at that time, possibly only made the reserves.

Unfortunately the Leeds Complete Record 1919 - 1989 by Breedon does not include an alphabetical list of players, unlike other Club issues.

I have checked the line ups from the mid 20's to the end of the 30's and no Jones is listed as playing for the first team. Perhaps he was a reserve team player. In which case you will need to rely on a Leeds United expert.

Fred Jones was at Leeds for 2 seasons 1932-1934, never played before moving to Birmingham where he played just one game as a forward, then went to Cheltenham
