Morning everyone
I have this ticket in my collection, I don’t recall ever seeing one before, does anyone else have one or has seen one for sale at all?
Thanks
Holtie Thumbs Up

This one is reasonably common compared to some England tickets, maybe £50 on a good day?

What information do you have to support that? £50 sounds far too low a price. Very little emanates from Scandinavia or much else from the 1940's/1950's from abroad, it is not my area of expertise HOWEVER

Here is something from that England Match in Sweden in 1949 that i can guarantee does NOT show up very often, still where there is one......

If it's any consolation Holtie, I don't think it's as common as stated above I haven't got one in my collection, I look through England tickets on ebay now and again and they don't turn up every week.
I can't comment on other auctions though..
Good find.

Cheers everyone
As the old saying goes, it is only worth what someone is prepared to pay.
I still think it’s a rare one, I can’t find any recent reference

Sid says its 13 years since he spotted one, that alone tells me it is a scarce item. Wave

I would say if another 10 turned up in collections or even 15, in my book it is still a very scarce item that more folk do not have than the ones that do-well that is my opinion.

He didn't say it was 13 years since he spotted one, he states it was 13 years since he brought his copy...

Either way I haven't a clue on the value but does look like people have managed to purchase for less than £50 in the past.
As Holtie said, it's worth what someone is willing to pay Smile

Interesting thread

For Leslie's first point, it is 13 years since I picked up my ticket but most recent one I have a note of being sold was last year

My impression is that there aren't actually many collectors of England away tickets - it can be a frustrating area of collecting

- Lots of quite easy tickets to find but
- About 10% of tickets never appear. Of the 58 post war tickets I need there are 45 I have never seen in 20+ years of collecting. The odds then on completing the set are practically zero. This includes tickets for games as recent as 1986 (I'm complete back to then)
- For WC tournaments from 1962 and before the market is flooded with fakes. I no longer bother looking at any tickets from 1950, 1954 or 1962

I went to the Mexican tournament in 85, Canada in 86 and Chile in 84. I did not see any tickets available. A good friend went to Australia in 83 and nothing was offered.
Iceland my friend went to the game, managed to get a few programmes but no ticket was available.
Re the 1984 South American trip, programmes were not available at the games in Chile and Uruguay not even to the press. Programme for Uruguay and the single sheet for Chile strangely appeared months after the game. I have my doubts they originated from South America.

I am looking for Ticket from Hungary in 1983 and Rumania 1985. I went to both games but can’t find tickets anywhere. I would have had 2 from Rumania as my wife went with me to the game.

Never seen Republic of Ireland v England 1946 ticket either. However there would almost certainly have been one done for the main stand in Dalymount Park.

There have been some beautiful tickets printed for England away games all the Italian tickets from 48,52,61,73,76 & 97 make a nice set, 1939 as well although I don't have that one.
Yugoslavia in 54 & 58
Holland in 64 & 69
Malta in 71 is a favorite.
Its a pity England tickets didn't have a bit of artistic license to be a little more colourful, larger with differing background scenes and the match details printed boldly on top.
Still the home tickets are thick in comparison and survive the years in good nick to near mint condition from the mid sixties backwards and are easily obtainable.
Although a shout out to the 1930's & 40's stubs for design were about as good as it got.
All in my opinion I am sure others will have their favorites for different reasons
