The world’s Press have all had many kind words to mark the passing Gerard Houllier.

I would reaffirm all of those, but what I wanted to add was how loyal he was to his roots, occasionally calling in to his local village to catch with his childhood friends.

Here is a picture of him playing for his ( and my adopted Village) team of A.S.Hucqueliers in 1966.

Can you spot him ?

He also has a grandstand named in his honour at nearby Le Touquet FC.

Gerard Houllier RIP

Nice one Baltimore! Seems he was a great coach/manager and a very nice bloke. The two don't always go together.

Back row, third left?

RIP Monsieur Houllier
