Just been announced on the Argyle site....

Waiters played in the Maracana for England but had the misfortune to be a contemporary of Banks

One of the best managers Argyle ever had...he discovered Paul Mariner (well via Verdi Godwin , a scout who threatened to resign if Argyle didn't sign him), and took Argyle to promotion and a League cup semi ( beating the then powerful QPR team 3-0 at Loftus Road, and Div one Burnley & Birmingham City away en route to a narrow defeat by Man City)

Sacked by Chairman Robert Daniels which culminated in one teenaged fan ( now older and wiser and calmer). leading an under the Directors Box protest....I still have the Sunday Independent headline/coverage somewhere.

Forthright and outspoken he was a great ambassador for the club, running marathons to raise funds to buy Brian Hall amongst his initiatives.

RIP Tony.

Once a green.....
