Not sure if many of you are aware, but Auchinleckian (John H) was taken into hospital a couple of nights ago and had emergency heart surgery.

He is still in a very poorly condition.

John is well known in the programme and memorabilia circles. He was part owner of RJS Programmes that had premises at Grimsby's Blundell Park during the late 80s / early 90s.

He moved up to Scotland and is heavily involved with Auchinleck Talbot.

John is a great character and I am sure that this will help pull him through this situation.

Up the Mariners and the Bot John!

This was posted on the Auchinleck Talbot forum concerning John.

"Hi folks. In case you haven't heard John Holroyd was rushed to hospital in Glasgow yesterday and underwent 7 hour operation on three aortic tears. He took unwell while shopping in Dumfries but managed to get to the local hospital and they immediately sent him to Glasgow. As you know John does so much work in getting funds in for his beloved Bot and I am sure everyone will send him good vibes and wishes for a speedy recovery. On a personal level John is a very dear friend of mine and I have had some wonderful times visiting him and Nanette in Thornhill and I have been left stunned with the news. My thoughts are with him, Nanette and son Shaun at this difficult time. John is a fighter and that will help with his recovery and he will be back to Beechwood some day to man the programme hut and cheer on the Bot"

I'll update where I can.

Be strong John, you're in the best of hands and you have everyone's support here, we'll all miss you till you're back fighting fit on your keyboard. And I'm sure the Bot won't be the same place without you. With every good wish.

All the very best, John. It's a scare but you're in good hands.

Having gone through 7 hour heart surgery myself three years ago, I know for a fact the care and attention you receive will be second-to-none.

The surgeons and nursing staff in the cardiac units are, well, I don't have enough superlatives for them.

Can the news get any worse? Like Derby 1884, I also underwent an 8hr session of heart surgery and came back fighting fit. As said, the care and after-care for this type of surgery is second to none. Thoughts are with you John and sending a ‘smoggy’ rendition of Eeka Peeka Pukka Po
